noone has any right to blame this guy for the Cubs loss. he didn't make the error at short and he didn't give up the ensuing hits. i hope the Cub players have the sense to realize that and 'shake it off', which some seemed to be unable to do after this foul ball, mainly Prior. everyone in the immediate area of this fan were reaching and noone looked to be trying to stop the guy from attempting to catch it.

if the stands were ground level i'm sure he would've seen Alou coming and would've let him catch it.

That is horrible they released his name. If the Cubs lost the series, he is screwed. I'm rooting for the Cubs, but I really feel bad for the guy. Here is an excerpt from another article:

Poor guy. If the ball is coming towards you, you are going to try and catch it. It's just a natural reaction.

i was watching s.c. last nite and they showed a clip of alou saying he felt bad for the guy, but not when it initally happened.. he even said that u cant blame the loss on the fan... the cubs had many chances to put the game away but didnt... i just hope they have their heads in the game tonight

I was let down by what he did at first at first, but the error afterwards with that infield hit pisses me off at least a thousand-trillion-gajillion times more.

The fan was doing what was natural with a hit like that. You're not looking at the field...you're looking either to catch the ball or to keep from getting hit.
