I don't know how many of you read Ivan Maisel's column on ESPN but he had a major error on there this week.

Quoting ( and not correcting ) Miami AD :

" A playoff game may be coming to the ACC, but Miami athletic director Paul Dee points out that none of the member conferences with a playoff has ever gotten two BCS bids, with the exception of the Big 12 two years ago. The second team, Nebraska, didn't play in the league championship game. "

This is in fact incorrect because the SEC ( which has a playoff game ) has twice sent 2 teams to BCS bowl games :

LSU/Illinois ( Sugar Bowl ) and UF/Maryland ( Orange Bowl ) 2001/2002
Tenn/Nebraska ( Fiesta ) and Bama/Mich ( Orange ) in 1999/2000

So in 2001/2002 both the SEC and Big 12 sent two teams to BCS games.

If this guy's job is to write about college football shouldnt he at least do some research ?

it doesnt matter much, but it may have meant only 1 division conference. the SEC has an east and a west, and has a championship in each, hence the reason they easily had 2 BCS teams, they kinda have to champions. the big 12 only has one division, so it makes it harder with only one champ really. its tough to explain but

I just think he was quoting the guy and just didn't look into it himself.
Its just that they cover that stuff so in depth I'd have though he's have caught it.

yea big 12 has north and south but 1 title game, the sec actually has 2 title games, i think, or they did one year maybe tie breaker, maybe im just stoned, who knows

I can't tell you how much this ACC expansion is killing me.

I'm from Pittsburgh, so i love Pitt and i've had a hard on for UNC for years. I hate the expansion so so so so much.

But i am glad that Pitt is gonna be a power in the Big East and that North Carolina voted against expansion

In the long run Pitt may wind up in the Big 10 or CUSA.
I dont think the Bige east, as it stands, will still be around in a few years.
