I'm trying to tell you how I disagree, but, I find myself agreeing.

Well, I'm talking Me. And Mike the Teacher is booze free. And I've had to re-train myself, really, to even go to a show sober, because it was ASSUMED my friends and I would be not only partying on the way up and in the parking lot; I was fantastic at sneaking booze into no-booze shows.

And I saw a lot of shows drunk and they were Fantastic!

But I was the mellow, happy, whatever Drunk. So I never became that horrible thing on the other thread; the ACG. Annoying Concert Guy. Can be Girl but I got a pair.

Anyway; now sober, I must admit I enjoy them more. I sure remember the shows, I mean I can like replay them in my head, and that's very cool. I tried a couple of the harder things mentioned above but disliked them. I won't lie and say I never get high, but at 40, and no longer in a classroom, and doing it about once whenever it's handed to me lit in a parking lot, that's it. Flame away; I'm done censoring myself these days. But I can't lie and say I didn't have some kick ass times at shows drunk.

I was the DJ at the Stone Pony in NJ on-and-off for years. Lee Mrowicki before me, a bunch of others after me, but for a while there, I was it. And I can NOT Imagine being in the packed like sardines in a small club to see a band that sells out the place, and being sober. The heat, humidity, smoke, lines to the shitty toilets, moshing, fighting, and I was lucky enough to watch this, night after night, almost completely sheltered up in my nice booth. Sober? I think I'd have a panic attack. plus I'm too tall to be up front anyway.

Booze indeed has beneficial effects. If nothing better then to give some people a buzz and they feel better and don't go postal. Ditto with Cigarettes. Don't argue that there's nothing good about them, or else by definition, No One would like to smoke. Of course they're horrofoc physically. But for some, it's a cig instead of lashing out at someone, or worse. If this sounds like excuses for condoning, you're talking to the wrong guy here. Flame away.

This is something I'll never understand, why some people can think that just because other people dont drink or do drugs, they live a dull, boring lifestyle. I'll never touch a drug in my life and probably never get drunk in my life but I have such a great and exciting life. Especially this year, I'm almost never home anymore, I'm always out roaming around my town with some friends or going to a youth group or playing football or just chillen and listening to music with friends. I dont in any way find any of that dull.

And like I said before, I NEVER try to preach to anyone about the way they live their lives, just dont force shit on me and everythings great. I also dont go around saying I'm straight edge or whatever, it's just something I've seemed to stumble into, but I still wont let the straight edge "rules" control me in any way or keep me from doing something I might like.
