I remember a time, about 6 years ago when I was connecting to the net with a 286 Packard Bell on dial-up. No graphic interface, I had to use LYNX to browse.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has an antique computer horror story to tell.

I have a collection of Mac SEs, one of which used to dial up to BBSs. I first used a BBS on an Apple IIE, but I'm not sure if I still own that one.

My first 'net connection was on a Vax/VMS minicomputer in 1992.

My current Dell is almost five years old. I've had to upgrade the graphics card and get a memory boost, but that's about it. My burner is pretty much useless, as that it can't deal with any blank disc over 650 MB. The processor is pretty slow by today's standards, but overall it works for me. I'm planning on getting a new one for Xmas, but I'll still hold onto this one...

My current system is beginning to get old, it works fine but its probably time to look to build a new system. It's currently a Pentium III 800. I also have a PowerMac which I want to get rid of, and a Dell Pentium I system.

My current computer is great. P4 2.8 GHZ etc.

The oldest thing I still own is a 486, I figure I'll take a sledgehammer to it for the fun of it one day.

If the caption is too small it says

[Charles] Babbage's Difference Engine

For readers of Lovecraftian fiction, analog computer, John Von Neumann, John Turing et al, it may ring a bell. If not, a Google search will tell of its amazing story.

I use my 800 MHz PowerBook G4 on a daily basis. It's a little over a year old.

The oldest computer I own is my Apple IIgs and it still works like a charm.

In all honesty as much as its a piece of shit, thats really slow and doesnt work right half the time , it does the trick

Mike, my father had a factory that used knitting machines with jacquard punch cards to direct the machine to make patterns and control its motion. Amazing when you think about it, but even a music box is a primative computer..

I just built mine the other day. Asus p4c800 board with 800mhz FSB. An intel 2.6ghz overclocked to 3.12ghz, with hyperthreading enabled. As of now, I only have 512mb of pc2700 ddr ram at 400mhz. I just added a couple LED fans and a blue cathode fluorescent light. I have 2 ata 133 HD's, gonna go get a couple of new SATA drives(gonna be HD of the future) And a bunch of other stuff. Baically it's one of the fastest around. Not sure if i'm gonna do the water cooling system. I have NO time to play with that.

Though, I am thinking of bidding on EBAY for a Commodore 64 :confuse:

Its is my deep seeded hatred and utter contempt for human life that gets me through each day
