View Full Version : Is anything worse than "the road" music video?

I submit that there is not, at least music video-wise.
"The road" video is usually a band's 3rd single off of an album, and it simply is usually home video footage or "behind the scenes" shit on the road. You've all seen 'em, you've all hated 'em.
In the 80's, the "on the road" was usually released in conjecture with the pussy ballad, ie-"the song that demonstrates how little we actually rock and only girls listen to our music." Think Poison, think Warrent, think Motley Crue, think Bon Jovi. Now stop crying and read on.
Apparently the "on the road" video has returned. I guess it makes sense, since shitty fake metal for girls has returned in a big way. Bands like Puddle of Mudd, Godsmack, Kid Rock and Saliva all fall into the formula by being utterly horrible and faithfully putting out the pussy ballad/"on the road" video as the third or fourth single. Who said this shit was allowed again? I want anyone on this board under the age of 18 to speak up for their generation, because I demand ANSWERS.
That said, what does everyone think is the worst pussy ballad/"on the road" video of all time? Bands like Creed and Coldplay are automatically disqualified since they do nothing BUT pussy ballads yet spare us the horror of the "on the road" video.
"The horror...the HORROR..."

come to think about it i don't knwo the last time i've seen the 3rd music video of any actual band. I saw Sum 41's 3rd video, that wasn't like a "road" video. I hate most of popular rock now, and the more popular bands i do like don't tend to last until their third single so I don't think I can comment. I think it's better to ask why bands that would make "the road" videos still exist. WHY ARE PEOPLE STUPID?

Ah, I've only figured out writing crap ROCK for the masses. And shooting bullshit-"the road is fucking HARSH"-music videos. But if I could write my way to a 12-year-old girl's heart, well, then I'd be a rich man in more ways than one...

I may mind the song but I don't find myself hating the "ROAD" video as much as you. It's a nice reminder to kids out there that think once they get a contract that their job is over.
It's just the beginning of your real work. It's just nice that you'll finally be paid well for all your hard work.

Queens of the Stone Age released this brand of video with their :GASP: third single off of "Songs For the Deaf", First it Giveth.
But it's hardly a pussylament song.

"Faithfully" by Journey. That video still creeps me out. Every hokey "road" stereotype....sleeping in the tour bus....laughing backstage with the crew...wistful shots staring out of the bus window as the road rushes by.
And the piece de resistance...Steve Perry looking longingly in the mirror and shaving off his moustache.
Truly awful.
