I'm not a big fan of rap, but I did go through a stage when I was younger. like in the mid-80's.
The other day I was flipping the 100 or so VH1/MTV channels I seem to get and on MTV Jams I saw an old video, the name of which I've forgotten again, by Marey Marl.
It had Big Daddy Kane in it and a bunch of guys that didnt do much I dont think ( DJ Polo was one of them ).
The theme was like a wild west thing.
I hadnt seen it in years and I though that kicked ass.
I have balls !!!

You're talking about The Symphony, with Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and Craig G, it was set in the wild west.
Big Daddy Kane had a line where he says something like "...put a quarter in your ass cause you played yourself" hahaha

Was it "Symphony Pt. 1 or 2"?

I replied to this, but it didn't appear here...I don't know why. But it was The Symphony, with Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Craig G, and Marley Marl.

It was one or the other.
I only recall one from years back.
Not sure how different the two were.
The refrain was something like " Cool G Rap grab the mike for the symphony .. "

The one you're talking about with the wild west video was The Symphony part 1. The guy who talked like he had balls in his mouth was Kool G Rap, his dj was DJ Polo.

Thats cool.
I know in the begining of the video they show all their names but I had missed that part.
That channel occasionally shows some good mid-80's rap videos.
I've seen Raw and Aint No Half-Steppin by Big Daddy Kane, You Gotts To Chill by EPMD, the Stop The Violence song with all the rappers, even saw Wild Wild West by Kool Moe Dee

There were 2
SELF DESTRUCTION and WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME GANG
Wild Wild West by Kool Moe Dee
Do you guys remember when Beavis and Butthead watched this video?
Butthead

It had Just Ice in it. Way under-rated at the time.

I agree
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I might be, wasnt "Self Destruction" with East Coast Rappers and "..Same Gang" with west coast?

Thanks.
There are some many good ones that I have in my head but I dont think I ever knew the titles. A lot of time on WBLS or whoever used to play them ( I got most of my tapes from friends ) they would just mix them all into each other and you never knew when one ended and the other began.
Didnt Snoop Dog do a version of The Vapors or did he just sample it ?

Yeah I remember him.
I was looking up some dudes that had one song that I remember being kinda cool.
I think he was known as Cool Chip and the " group " was Bronxwood Productions.
I think his DJ was Chuck Chill-out. Or something else.
I found something about the DJ guy the other day but I forgot already.
I couldnt find anything on Kaaza by them. Not that I'd downloaded it anyway because that would be illegal. Nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-haaaaaaaaaaa !!

I just came across a great old rap song "This or That" by Black Sheep. I heard it played in a club about six months ago, and I just found it in alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.rap-hiphop on usenet.
It's still kick ass to this day.

This guy who DJ'ed at the club I used to work out had a pre-made rap mix that he would break out and it had the Black Sheep "Engine, Engine, Number Nine.." part and then mix into something else. He always used to act like he was mixing the whole thing right there. People would come up and ask for the whole Black Sheep song and rather than saying it was just part of the mix, he'd say maybe I'll put it on later. Also good on that album was Strobelight Honeys. "I'll see you later unless I see you first."
Personally my favorite was Scenario by Tribe Called Quest w/Leaders of the New School. Busta Rhymes was a bad ass way back then, even if he rapped in a group with a dude name Charlie Brown.
