With all this talk about black QBs, blacks in upper management and blacks in the coaching ranks- why is there no outcry for the lack of black punters and kickers in the NFL? With the other thread about Rush, the only black punter/kicker I could recollect off hand is Reggie Roby (I think he was black, if he's not then it proves my point).
Before people ask themselves "who cares about the kicker or the punter?"- look at the Giants last year, or even the Jets. These skills are very important in the outcome of the game (see how the defending Superbowl Buccanners lost to Carolina). There's nothing that hypes up a defense more than a ball punted inside the 10 that puts the heat on the offense to move the ball.
So Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Johnnie Cochan, get hopping and find out why there is a lack of quality black punters/place kickers in the NFL and what can be done about it.
