View Full Version : The Franchise to resurrect the Triple Threat?
RF Godfather

On last night's TNA, he said thanks to Fr. James Mitchell for his help into getting into the fed and felt it is time they should split ways. Mitchell agreed. He really didn't belong in the New Church cuz he did not really fit that gimmick anyway.
Well during the NC/Vampiro vs. 3LK tag match, he helped do commentary with West and Tenay. He alluded to certain things in his rants. He said that there will be a "new Franchise in 2003", "want to rise to the mountain one more time" and that there are "impressive talent here that will look great in my arms."
This made me think of the resurrection of his Triple Threat. Looking up and down the roster, I think that Simon and Swinger, NWA Tag Champions along with Gilberti would be a perfect fit. Maybe Abyss, Siaki or Legend? And maybe he'll have a feud with Raven for the World Title down the line? Is he getting a main event push?!?
DISCUSS.

"The Franchise" is far from what he used to be. In my opinion, he hasn't wrestled a good match since he lost the title rematch to Taz at the ECW Arena in January 1999. Which, coincidently is around the time when the last form of the Triple Threat ended. It's bad enough that the version with Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow doesn't even come close to the original one with Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit.
Reforming the Triple Threat now would be like the countless versions of the Four Horsemen had in the 90's. None of them were ever as good as the original. If anything, Douglas should bring together a new version of the Revolution. TNA already has Perry Saturn (I think?).

its official (i suppose), NWA/TNA Xplosion said that Shane Douglas will be reforming the Triple Threat. Todd they did not specifically say "Triple Threat." They did say it will be a "New Franchise." Hopefully it will be called the Triple Threat again. But first he needs to recruit members. Alright!
Simon, Swinger and maybe Legend would be a killer combination.

I just hope it doesn't get stupid, The original Triple Threat was awesome and can rival The 4 Horseman and D-X as the greatest stable of all time.

HAMMERHEAD, I doubt it will be a lame stable. It seems as though that he is focused again and TNA is gonna give it some wings.

From last night's TNA show, he says that he is looking to start his "New Franchise." He specifically says he wants to "Reach out for a guy outside of this business... time to make some noise." He wants to make it bigger and better than his Triple Threat. He will start checking possible recruits next week/ Should be interesting.
Who is he looking for? Outside of wrestling? An actor? A sports star? Very vague but another great promo by Shane Douglas.

Franchise cut an nWo-esque promo (black and white commercial thang) saying that he is going to start looking for recruits in his "New Franchise" and was shown with some ladies from only the neck down. He called them his "stacked personnel." Very funny Franchise.
Well TNA had him watching from the rafters with a clipboard in hand during the Shane and Fallen Angel match but it was hard to tell who he wanted. Maybe it was one of Daniel's followers perhaps? Two Shanes in the New Franchise, nah... well. What about Fallen Angel and Douglas? Daniels doesn't need Shane, he is fine alone or maybe with Triple X.
Just a lil update for the Franchise fanatics.

Did ECW keep any trademarks (besides the obvious ones) or did they let the wrestlers own all their own gimmicks and whatnot?

"The Franchise" Shane Douglas in another black and white promo said that next week "The New Franchise will be revealed!' YES! When he said this he was flanked by two gorgeous figured women (one blonde and the other dark haired) although only from the neck down. I remember Mike Tenay and Don West made a comment on TNA Xplosion two weeks ago when Douglas wrestled that they looked familiar. How could they say that by just seeing them from the neck down? I guess it was a clue. I figure that it could 2 of these 3 people. Francine or Desire and probably Lizzy Borden. I hope it is the latter. Desire (girlfriend of Sonny Siaki) has been healing up for the past few months from a serious injury and should have been on TNA television by now.
Also in that promo, he was talking to someone off screen and saying if you do well in "this X Division match" you maybe the next member of his New Franchise. You could visibly see him shaking a white hand that appears on screen. The match that followed Shane's promo was the X-Division Title Match with Michael Shane, Fallen Angel and Chris Sabin. Hmmm... but I wonder if this was just a decoy to throw smarts off the track. Maybe it was Kid Kash earlier in the night and this was just shown to screw with all of us? Maybe it really wasn't an X-Division wrestler at all? Should be interesting next week.
I'll keep you all posted.

Well in another black and white promo, nothing! He was vague and was talking to the cameraman that he has to focus only on him as a tight looking dark haired woman from the waist down is shown. We couldn't see her. I'm pretty sure it is either Desire or Tracy now. I'm banking on Desire.
Nearing the end of this promo he was talking to someone off camera and was proud of this individual. No meaningful words came out of this and alas no announcement of the New Franchise just yet. Waaaah?
Oh yeah like I mentioned on the Dutt thread it seems as though Shane maybe the one being advised by the Franchise not to put the title up. I really don't want that. Michael Shane does get heat but real heat cuz he doesn't deserve to be in a TNA ring.
Franchise, do us a favor skip on Shane and get someone like Bryon Danielson (American Dragon), Legend, Punk or someone of that vein. Thank you.

THE FRANCHISE SHANE DOUGLAS VS. THE SANDMAN
The Hardcore Icon returns to TNA this week, but an even bigger story is WHO Shane Douglas has selected to be a part of his New Franchise! Will Douglas unveil his new members this Wednesday night - or will Sandman spoil any coming out party? Tune in and find out!
...
The Sandman returns and faces off a guy that he allegedly still has heat with since ECW. This should be an interesting battle and maybe we will finally see the new Franchise! Yeah!
I can't wait anymore!

Tracy (Brooks) returned although I was expecting Desire (as my source basically guaranteed they may have decided to rework the faction) and became the first official member of Shane Douglas' NEW FRANCHISE! She delivered a "Pie in the Sky" (although sloppy) to the returning Sandman to help The Franchise get the win over the Extreme Icon.
She looked hotter than ever now without the glasses and she is some wrestler. Expect great things from her and this NEW FRANCHISE! Who will be the next member of the NEW FRANCHISE? Will it be the blonde from his promos? Hmmm... that's a headscratcher, hehehe. It just might. Lizzy Borden or Sunny have been mentioned to me but they sometimes like to change things up last second. Who will be the first male member of this Triple Threat? Should be fun as this faction increases over the next few weeks. They will definitely be a stable to be reckoned with!
Shane Douglas with a woman in his faction always make him better. Tracy does make me a hell of a lot better.
Stay tuned to your RF.Net TNA source, RonFez Mark!

No new members last week but I have heard that one or two members should be joining this week... hmmm, can they be serious?
We shall see soon enough.
BTW, Shane Douglas should change his finisher back to the Pittsburgh Plunge. The belly-to-belly suplex for the Franchise looks really pathetic. TNA, wake up!

Maybe he's trying to reinvent/relive his whole character from ECW. That very unexciting belly-to-belly was his finisher for a time on ECW as well.

Michael Shane, like I said on another thread is the newest member of the New Franchise.
You've got to be kidding me. So what if he is holding the X-Title... he stinks, has little charisma, poor wrestling skill and really needs a gimmick. Can Douglas help him? Let's see if he can be a miracle worker.

If I'm not mistaken, the masked man is "X", aka Carl Ouelette. You might remember him from his WWF days as "Pierre" (one half of the Quebeccers) or "Jean-Pierre Lafitte" (he feuded with Bret Hart for a little bit, and had a pretty damn good match with him at one of the In Your House cards).
And no, Abyss is not a fat Kane-clone. He's actually pretty talented, especially for a big man.

markster who's he dude in the mask in your sig pic ?
and is abyss suppose to be a fat kane ? From left to right, the very talented and agile Abyss, X and CM Punk.
Abyss reminds me of a bigger Rhyno with a more rounded arsenal. Definite main eventer. Him and AJ tore the house down two weeks ago!
Se7en, I guess you missed what I wrote in my Triple Chance X Invitational Thread. Here is what I wrote a few weeks back.
The mystery opponent was unfortunately not Jeff Hardy (from all my accounts) but turned out to be someone named "X." A big bulky guy that I finally figured out to be a repackaged and more physically fit Pierre Carl Oulette who has worked prior with Callis in the CWA and of course part of WWF's Quebeccers. He did tremendous in the X-Division Battle Royal and came out on top with some impressive power moves and something that Tenay called "The Package Driver." [That very move "X" used was developed by Kevin Steen, a Montreal wrestler trained by Jacques Rougeau.] Impressive. Since he won he gets a BYE to the #1 Contendership for the X-Division Title in a few weeks.
And no, Abyss is not a fat Kane-clone. He's actually pretty talented, especially for a big man.
My friend called Abyss -- ManKane... Mankind and a Kane combination. In IWA, he had black tights and not the Mankind thang.
They should be changing his outfit in a few weeks.
Wait, wait, wait... Michael Shane? Cousin/nephew/whatever of Shawn Michaels, a man Shane Douglas legitimately loathes?
...this could get somewhat interesting. I know my people have mentioned that dynamic.
I wonder what HBK is really thinking about his cousin being a yes man to Dean Douglas. :p
