And the Cubs fans took over the Braves' home field --- much like the Yankee fans do at Camden Yards.

Good. The Orioles deserve nothing but pain and humiliation.
And science question time...in the billion-to-one non-chance the Cubs win the World Series this year, does all of Boston automatically implode? Or is it more like a tear in the dimensional fabric itself? Thanks.

See Ya!

Nah. We fans would be disappointed but the Cubs have had it worse than us for a lot longer so that may make such a loss a little more bearable (no pun intended).

Screw the cubs. They'll find a way to choke. If only the Braves can face the Sox in the Series they might actually win one for a change. Any other teams and we're screwed.

aside from the Yanks winning, I think I'd like to see a Cubs versus Sox game - Cubs of course. What worries me is it will be game 7, 14th inning, tied 0,0 and an asteroid or nuclear war will settle it, as neither can win :-)

I'm down in Florida, and apparently I took the board's only Cubs fan with me.
Apparently I'm Chicago's lucky manboy. I go to the first two games, they kill. I don't have tickets to the third, they lose. DAMMIT.
Oh well, at least now they'll get to finish it up on Tuesday on the home turf of Wrigley.
And Boston, please prolong your agony a game or two more. Give the Cubbies a few more days off once they clinch it.

The announcers are even trying to tell the audience that the Cubs loss was not because of the interfering fan. They are going on about this and are obviously concerned about his safety. That fan played a significant part in the Cubs loss, don't kid yourself.
DEAD MAN WALKIN'....
By the way......I had the Marlins at 3-1 odds for a shit load of dough. I had already called it as a loss when that crazy 8th inning happened. I had over 7 1-2 runs too! If not for the interference and error the inning should have ended scoreless. Wow, what a HUGE win tonight!!!! THIS WAS AWESOME!!!!

The bush league error by Alex Gonzalez did have more of a negative impact then the interfering fan but that would not have been a double play. The bottom line is the combination of the two "fuck-ups" caused the Cubs collapse.

As I saw this I almost wept too. It was only after the end of the the game and I kept screaming FUCK! and waking my neighbours and scaring my animals. I do think however that this was the turning point and okay, the guy is human but if you see Alou coming to catch the ball and you are Cubs fan in the stands going for ball wouldn't sense tell you to back the hell away? I guess not? I wonder if Pat Hughes was giving him a hard time while he still had on his headphones.

I have to say that I am not so shocked...the Marlins have had young talent since Hunzinger dissassembled the team in 1998. They traded all those big names from the 1997 championship team into something that is a cohesive unit. Anybody who played fantasy baseball with me this year knows that I picked almost all Marlin pitchers when everyone else thought they were underdogs. The only shocking thing for me is that they didnt do it two years ago when I thought they were due to win something. I say good for the Marlins and for Jack McKeon...that guy has had a lot of teams for years but no gold. Hell no playoffs till this year. He reminds me of Lou Brown from "Major League".
Well now we just have to wait and see who the Marlins play...and that Chicago fan had better run and hide. People will look to skin him and make a funny hat out of his skin...

Correction. The Cubs beat themselves.
Two types of pain in baseball. Boston Red Sox pain which is getting so close to the end and winning it all and it just collapses for them. And then there is Chicago Cub pain which is never getting to the end at all (last time being 1945).

Nahhhh, there pain is that they cursed themselves. Their name will forever be synonamous for two things:
1) The Black Sox scandal of 1919 where they took money to throw the series. Which led in turn to,
2) The rise of Babe Ruth to "save the game" and propel the Yankees to the stage they acheived in history.

One thing about that. Was it ever proven that Shoeless Joe Jackson was part of it. Didn't he bat over .300 for the Series? The day Rose gets into the Hall, they Should put Jackson in as well.

Well I am a little torn over the fact that Chicago lost.
I am happy because if and when the Yanks face them they would most likely defeat them, and that is another team with a loyal following that would be out to get the Yanks (as if there were'nt enough already). I wold rather have my team go thru someone who I could give two shits about instead of a team whose misfortunes pulls on my baseball heartstrings.
Which leads me into why I am sad....
The Cubs have it worse off then the Red Sux, thery have not been IN a wold series in 58 years much less won one. They have a loyal following they rivals the Yanks and the sux. I hurt for those fans who came SO close only to lose. And to the organization who gave so much to the fans also.
Well Cubs fans..I will be rootinh for you next year and hope you make it to the show.
But for now....GO YANKEES!!!!!!
