anyone good in Math?

I juts got off of work and Im a little bit upset at the anount of money I got Tipped out on tonight. Heres the stats. I get 30% of tips form all bar tenders.

I got $90 in tips.
There were 4 Bartenders at two bars so figure they have to add all the tips, take away 30% for the barbacks and keep 70%. How much did the bar tenders make in tips? Now to add to the equation, it was a very good crowd pretty packed in there so they had to be doing well. Im just dissapointed that I didnt make as much as I thought I would.

My math is as follows:
180(barback tips) X 30%(barback tips)=$54 made by each bartender roughly. It just doesnt sound right.

I dont think you gave enough information to properly answer this.

you got 90 in tips - is that regular or your 30% cut, or some other combination? I also dont see where the 180 comes from...

If 30% of the take is supposed to be yours and you made $90...then the total take was $300!!!!!

just to add to what was said already...

if you get 30% of the tips, and that was $90, then there was a total tip intake of $300 (as per reeshy).

that means that the bartenders, who kept the remaining 70% of the tips, kept $210. divided among the four bartenders, that means that each of them got $52.50.

you got almost double what they did. you should be glad.

The way I read it is the 180 comes from there being 2 barbacks. if that is the case and 180 is 30% of the total then the total take was $600 and each bartender made $105.

600 (total) - 180 (barbacks) = 420 / 4 (bartenders) = 105 (per bartender)
