I've been a Yankee fan since 4th grade. It was during the winter of 1974-75 when they traded Bobby Murcer for Bobby Bonds and signed Jim "Catfish" Hunter as a free agent. I jumped on the bandwagon. Everyone picked New York to win the AL East in 1975.

Unfortunately Boston had a couple of rookies named Fred Lynn and Jim Rice that kept that from happening - and I've been hating the Red Sox ever since.

I'll tell you one thing - there is something different about this Boston team. What stands out in my mind is that comeback the other night vs. Baltimore with 2 outs in the 9th ; they didn't let the Yankees clinch with a Boston loss. And there was that picture of Jeter looking at the scoreboard, acknowledging the comeback with a look that said "holy shit." Give credit to the cameraman who took that shot. It was classic.

This Boston team reminds me of that '75 club ; less talented, but I'll be honest, I'm not counting on them to roll over and succumb to some curse. They haven't won a WS since 1918, but they've won four pennants. They might be due for a fifth.

Well this is going to be one good playoff. As far as the American League goes I pick the Yankees in four over the Twins just based on the Yankees history against them and all of the great numbers their pitchers have lifetime against the Twins. I don't know why I say this as a Yankee fan but I do like the Red Sox just based on the A's past in the first round. In the NL I like the Cubbies over Atlanta I think the Cubs pitching is younger and better. I don't think John Smoltz will be able to pirch 3 innings so they have to rely on their bullpen. I think that the Cubs is better. Especially since they have Joe Borowski...a Marist alum. I like the Giants over Florida. I think that Bonds will be the deciding factor in that series.

Cubs vs. Red Sox World Series would be amazingly entertaining. That's what I am hoping for.

It is nice to have at least one of my teams in the Playoffs. The Twins and A's look strong and I will be pulling for them. Hell, even though it is blasphemy, I will root for anyone including Atlanta as long as the Yankee's suffer and lose.

Well, this has been a banner post season so far for the umpires. First, the umpires steal a game from the A's on an obvious call, and now they miss a clear catch by Lofton and cost the Cubs a run. Even if Lofton really didn't catch the ball it should have been a double play. They fucked up the play twice over. Hopefully this doesn't affect this game, as the Cubs are still ahead by three.

these teams busted their ass for 162 games to get into first place and win their divisions, the LEAST They deserve is a 7 game series and in truth some kind of Buy. In a 7 game series you have a VERY different outcome.
