Why Do People Not Know What A "Back Slash" Is?

I don't get it. Why do people say "back slash" when they mean "slash"? Don't they know the fucking difference? Backslashes are practically NEVER USED, EVER. So stop pretending that this:

is a "back slash". It's NOT! When you read me a URL, it should sound like this:

"Ron Fez Dot Net Slash Message Board"

You know why? Cuz THIS IS A SLASH: "/"
AND THIS IS A BACK SLASH: ""
If I used back slashes instead of slashes, this is how it would look:

http:\www.ronfez.netmessageboard
Now does that look right to you? Good. It shouldn't.
Stop saying back slash you dumb FUCKS!

Hockey never has caught on that much in the U.S. Oh sure, there's a few pockets here and there in the northeast, but by and large the lingo is unknown.

Which ones fake? I can never tell. No matter what type of trick I use with the word, I always mess it up.
