Alright kids, here's where you the readers/contributer/members get to pick the course of the direction of the thread/topic. In addition you also get the added bonus of the all time favorite topic de-rail option.

Here are the topics at hand:

1: Which state in the U.S. has the MOST number of states/countries touching it's borders?

2: If you're at the junction between two states and or time zones where and what point would you be? For instance if you're at a midpoint somewhere where state lines cross, what is the distance within the boundaries that it is then considered that you are officially in that state.

Discuss....

Disclaimer: I can easily look this up on my own, but I choose to involve you and keep the discussion of the board running its course.

Bill, I'm on the Clueless Couch.

But here's one for the Trivia fans, it is Not a trick question, but it does involve thinking in a way that you might not usually think.

The Game is: What word do the following have in common?

Example: Fire Hydrant, Blood, Stop Signs...

Answer: Red

Simple enough.

Here's a list, what word do they have in common?

Apollo 13 [the event, not the movie]
Ted Williams
The Godfather Part 2
Clarence Thomas
Hawaii
The Miami Dolphins

I guess you've never seen how States are connected through boundaries. There are some areas in the country where you can actually be in 4 states at the same time because their state lines cross each other. The question I asked was if there is actually a point where you're considered officially within that state. :)

that's what I'm not getting -you're in the state when you cross the border. The border is a line which, be definition has zero width. That bit about the middle of the border thing confused me.

Sorry if I was unclear, I'm at work and my mind is on various things.

As for the border thing, for instance there's a place between Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico I think called the "quad" or something like that, where the state lines all intersect and you could conceivably be in four states at once.

I know what you mean. Lets say your at the New York/New Jersey border. Your on the New York side looking west, the tips of your toes are in NY but there is an area (the question is, what is the distance) between NY and NJ. Is it an inch? A foot? Who "owns" that land?
