Triple H beat Ric Flair for the World Heavyweight Championship. In NC, it's against the law for Flair to not play the face. He came out first, and played to the crowd, followed by Triple H (with Randy Orton in tow). Flair said that to even the odds, he was bringing out his own corner man. Out came Arn Anderson to a madhouse pop. Flair took some verbal shots at "wet behind the ears" Orton and nameDr0pped famous names from Asheville's past, like Wahoo, Blackjack, and Steamboat. Flair got in a lot of offense early before the champ came back, eventually locking on the figure-four. The crowd hated this and went wild as Flair made his comeback, eventually landing the figure-four himself. We had near-falls galore until the ref was distracted and Orton ran in and hit the RKO on Naitch. Arn then came in and hit Orton with a DEVASTATING spinebuster. The crowd went ape s**t. In the confusion, Triple H nailed Flair with the championship belt and got the pinfall.

This is why I bang my head against the wall with the WWE.

They did this at a house show, for Flair's home crowd, which was nice.

If they had made THIS the main angle on RAW, though - a feud between the old guard (represented by Flair, and Anderson in a managerial role) against the "young" upstart HHH (along with Orton), it would be instantly over and might be actually drawing them money.

People went apeshit a few months back when Flair turned face for one night and fought HHH for the title (carrying Trips to an actually good match). Tell me that they couldn't have drawn more money and ratings from that feud than HHH v. Nash for three fucking months.

Well said and I agree totally. But no one will ever listen at WWE.

In my opinion, there's nothing in this world beats a '52 Vincent and a red headed girl.
