I just got a laptop (IBM Thinkpad) at school and I want real quality speakers to hook up to it so that i can watch movies and listen to music instead of studying.

Can anyone suggest whats good to get?
I have 60 bucks to spend.

The most practical solution is to get a decent headset, it is cheaper, sounds great (you can crank it up without anyone bitchin), and easy to carry around with your laptop.

I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker

I happen to like the Sony speakers hooked to my pc. Price unknown.

I was going to suggest a headset as well. As for speakers, unless you get into some really low end or high end equip, they'll all be about the same...

Yeah, I've been very impressed by my 4 Piece Sony set up on my current computer. I've also had good experiences with JBL speakers.

If you want good sound, $60 bucks isn't going to cut it. If you just want decent stuff you should be able to find it online.

I use a miniature Dennis Hastert as my laptop speaker.

If your stereo has sound inputs, get a mini male>RCA plug for $4 and you're off.
