Ok...me again with yet another question about exercising.

I've been doing push-ups practically every other day for the past year or two and I'm really starting to get sick of it. I really wanna build up and stuff, so I've wanted to lift, but I don't know if I'll get the same results as I did with push-ups.

Any advice on what I could do? (Besides running. That option is already under consideration. I need knew ideas, weight-lifting techniques - stuff like that.)

bench pressing basically equals push ups. curling is good for the bicepts and do crunches. legs are tough without gym equiptment, so just play some sports

ok, i do all of that. Any idea as to how i can build up my back? And those muscles on the side of my stomach? (The ones that you need to work out to get rid of the "tire" that forms.)

I find side crunches (on your back with your knees to your left, alternating to your right) assist in the development of the muscles on the sides of your stomach.

Here's what I've done for years that I've found best keeps my sides developed and in shape.

Lay on your back as if doing you a "classic" sit-up. Take your right leg and cross it so your right heel is resting on your left knee and your right knee is sticking almost straight out. Then rest your left palm behind your head, your right arm resting at your side (Keep it on the floor). Now try and sit up and "twist" as if trying to touch your right knee with your left elbow. Alternate to right elbow-left knee for the other side. Start off doing three sets of 20 for each side at first. FEEL THE BURN.

try doing wind sprints (ie. multiple 40 yard sprints.) as opposed
to jogging, sprints really work your abdominals because of the
faster and more exargerated leg lifts. and of course, sprints are
still good for cardiovascular exercise.

Melrapuo,

I'm no expert, actually, I know almost zip. But I gotta ask that classic question:

What are you after?

Muscle Mass? so you can have big pythons like ThunderLips The Ultimate Male [let's see how long it takes for that one]?

Or do you just want to get in shape? So you can look good when you're naked, like when he asked the new neighbors [let's see how long That one takes...]? You mentioned running, so I'm guessing this whole thing isn't arm-related.

The only arm stuff I do is: 20 lb dumbbells; 25 reps forward curls, and the real ones, my back is straight, dammit.

How many sets? I try to do it whenever i think about it during the day. Sometimes none, sometimes a dozen.

And my arms still look like spagheeti; except for the forearm of my left because when i crank out a ba...oh...umm... never mind...

for biceps - when your doing your dumbell curls, do them slowly, perhaps a 7 count on the way up, and a 7 count on the way down. With even low weight after 10 reps youll feel it. For definition, do them seated on the edge of a chair, with your elbow resting against your inner thigh.

For back muscles - lean forward and rest your hand on a chair or bench, with your knee resting on the bench. Your back should be horizontal. lift the dumbell off the ground with opposite hand and raise it to your chest..slowly lower.

if it ain't push-ups then it looks like you'll have to hit the dead-weights or some universal exercise machine... stick with push-ups and run stairs, add some swimming laps...
