For me ,it's gotta be Elway. I dont care about records he may or may not hold. People have thrown for more yards or TD over a season or carear. This is a situation where you would of had to watch the man play over the years to get a real feeling for how good he was.
1) Great fucking arm
2) Great scrambler
3) Great pooch punter
4) Great field General
5) Great in the clutch
He is the only QB to take his team to the SB 5 times. The first 3 were %99 because of him. He really had no talent around him. Mecklenberg was the only other pro-bowler they had right? And its not like he was dominate either.
Givin a running game that was worth a fuck and a decent defense, he showed how great he was. He didnt choke. He NEVER choked. Football more than any other sport is a team sport. A QB cant protect himself. He cant get open and throw himself the ball. But he can scramble, run for yards, and launch a bullet straight through a defenders arms while on the run, and Elway did those things better then any other.

johnee, elway is a damn good choice. this will be debated to no end, like any other best something..
id have to say warren moon. more cause of how underrated he was. he put up massive yards with basically no running game, and it was fun watchin that run and shoot with jeffries and givens

Warren Moon may be a stretch, but marino cant beat elway. throw out all your stats DLK, and elway wins the important one. 2 Super Bowls - 0 for marino, elway was better

DLK, QB's are leaders. the best thing they could do isnt stats. its to be the man and lead his team to a championship. look at trent dilfer, he sucks. but he got that team to believe in him and look what they did.
you dont have to be the man to be the best QB, you have to be a successful one, but also, a winner.

Elway was the best. All he needed was a few seconds on the clock and he would get the yards & the points.
Trent Dilfer is one Superbowl Ring better than Dan Marino.

Ok, How many rings does he have? I just fucked with that. And thanks for making those stats almost impossible to understand. Nice job deeeek. And theyre old too. Pennington had over 100 rating last year.

Best Qb means individual achivenment
Perhaps. I know a few NFL owners, coaches, players, and QBs that might disagree.
OK; i'm entering this thread like Sweden; Neutral.
Why? Coz I'm a Vikings fan, so for a second we can talk about Tark.
Stats? He flooded the stat books. Many of those records mentioned above were his, for a long time. The guy could connect. Ran like a sissy, but hey...
But: Not a single ring. And Minnesota went FOUR times.
So, honestly, as a Vikes fan, I can brag all I want about Fran, and lay claim to his being greatest, this and that, but...
How can you be the best at QB, even if it is based on individual stats, if you cant Win the Super Bowl; which, I don't care WHO says otherwise, is the goal, the Aim, in NFL football.
And don't mention the Fran Tarkenton Infomercials; it's shitty out enough on this Saturday Morning.

Ok, now ya got me going. Grrrrr....
Here's what pisses me off about NFL Football today...
Not enough Bad Weather Games!!!
With all the retractable domes AstroTurf and Super Bowls being played in nice weather. Dammit I was a Huge Vikes fan, and I wanna see games like you saw where Unitas has to scoop the mud out of his mask just to see, or watch the Vikes play some hapless southern team in a Blizzard.
They stop baseball if it drizzles. They dont stop football like that. We need Snow, Rain, Real Grass, and for fuck sake, can we speed up the Super Bowl just a teeeensy bit?
ugh.

Brett favre is becoming one of the greatest QB's of all time. And Chad Pennington is incredible to turn around an entire franchise and carry it on his shoulder. The guy has a weak arm but has incredible pocket pressence.

Favre is becoming? he is in the decline of his career, if anything, he already made his best case, and he is riding out the wave like most other athletes right now.
In regards to pennington, let the guy play more than 15 games before we call him one of the best QB's ever. if you are even gonna think that, kerry collins must be there too. he took a team to the NFC champ, another to a bowl. now im a giants fan, but see how abserd that sounds. Pennington isnt even close.
if you wanna think ahead and pick a QB now who may get there, the only guy id even validate is michael vick, assuming he can still play
