I can't believe this didn't occur to me earlier. I've been heating my food on full power now for years.

Just the other day I Dr0pped the power level to like 30 or 40 percent, and PRESTO!!!!

No more dried out, shitty food! Sure it takes longer to heat now, but was man really meant to have their cold food reheated in such a short time? I ask you.

For instance, I just reheated a bowl of penne and meat sauce with 3 meatballs. It took about 7 minutes on 30 percent, but it's not all dried out and shitty. The meatballs are heated in the middle, the outside and inside of the pasta is hot, and it's not all dried out and shitty.

So try it out. I mean, you can do it fast or you can do it right. Slow heating the food keeps the water content and gives you a better reheated meal.

Apparently you're never to old to learn new stuff. Can we make Death_Metal Science a weekly feature?

The best tip I can contribute is actually crucial in reheating food via the microwave. Add/sprinkle water to pasta and rice's before reheating thus preventing dried out, flavorless dishes. You can substitute olive oil for water (what I do) when concerning pasta leftovers.

Well, I just thought I would share this little tidbit for the sake of any other people who have just microwaved their food on the preset HIGH setting for years like I have. I almost always end up with some area of my food dried out. If this was obvious to you already, then move along.

try putting a cd you dont want (try those sumbitching AOL ones) in a microwave label down - set it for 10 seconds, and hit GO (I dont suggest doing this at home).

Or you can simply cover whatever you're microwaving with plastic wrap to prevent the steam from escaping. (Sprinkling some water in helps out, too.)

you get this mini swirling lighning storm that trashes the cd (burns the metal substrate off in pits) - almost looks like some sci fi transporter effect. Here's what the cd looks like afterwards:

If you put a small flourescent light bulb in a microwave, the microwaves will cause the light to go on. Its eerie. But, I wouldnt do any of this stuff in my own microwave because who wants to clean broken glass ount of a microwave? Just use it for food and forget the science crap. The CD thing is impressive though. They had to buy a new one after I did that number at work.

(... I'll never tell...)

We did the cd thing it college. It looked cool and didn't do any permanent damage to the microwave.
