Some of his music was interesting to listen to. A lot of it was too unrefined and rough around the edges. Zevon did benefit by having David Letterman as a big fan, this went a long way in promoting Zevon's schtick.

Letterman and Zevon were actually friends - the only real celeb friend Dave has/had.

I would hardly call what Warren Zevon did was "schtick."

more importantly, anyone get it yet? Any opinions? I was going to go out and get it last week, but never made it to the store...

All the latest clips and photos I'd seen of him didn't seem to show him looking all that unhealthy...this is really too bad.

I've been listening to the album at work, as that he is our atist of the week, and I like what I hear. It's very similar to George Harrison's last album in how it's very knowing that it's going to be the artist's last, so it feels very relaxed and assured...

Stern's played some clips from it the last few weeks - it sounds terrific, if not painful.

It's very similar to George Harrison's last album in how it's very knowing that it's going to be the artist's last, so it feels very relaxed and assured...

The one that tore me up was the Joey Ramone CD that came out a year after he died; songs on there about how it sucks to be in the hospital, and songs about not to worry about him because he's going to be all right, and then the amazing (in my opinion) cover of "Wonderful World." And then, for good measure, a goofy song about his crush on a reporter on tv.

I wonder if Letterman will do anything tonight about Zevon. His tribute to his commedian friend George Miller (that's his name, right?) was very good - he got permission to show a clip from George on the Johnny Carson "Tonight Show."

Just saw the VH1 special. The stuff with him and Dave Barry was funny. He kept his humor all the way until the end.

p.s. The new record IS amazing. My favorite line is "There's a train leaving nightly called When All is Said and Done"

Lettermans tribute last night was pretty nice. You could tell he was a big fan of Warren Zevon.

he will always be remembered for the rendition of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" on this cd. "Radio Psychic" - instant classic.

good cd.

"Carmelita" by Zevon is one of my all-time favorite songs...

Carmelita

I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
And I'm here in Echo Park

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I'm sittin' here playing solitaire
With my pearl-handled deck
The county won't give me no more methadone
And they cut off your welfare check

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I pawned my Smith Corona
And I went to meet my man
He hangs out down on Alvarado Street
By the Pioneer chicken stand

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town...
