When you peel the wrapper off a "Reggie!" bar, it tells you how good it is. - Catfish Hunter
Damn I loved those candy bars. They came out in the spring of 1978. On Opening Day that year, the Yankees gave them out to everyone in attendance. Sure enough Reggie Jackson hit a home run in his first at bat, and thousands of Reggie bars came raining down on the field. The game was delayed while the grounds crew picked up all those candy bars.
I wasn't there, but I can tell you that I wouldn't have thrown mine on the field (because I would have eaten it long before the game started). They were good - it was basically a Baby Ruth, only round and more caramel than peanuts.
These candy bars were not big sellers outside of New York, so they were discontinued in 1980.

to be honest i have to admit that i always had some homophobic feelings toward this candy bar and never had one...
it's a Reggie Bar, the guy is black and the bar is chocolate... it's kind of like his cock is inside every package...
crazy but true....

Reggie bars aways reminded me of a big version of these! Caramel and walnuts covered in chocolate..mmmm
(I know Reggies were peanut, but it was very similar, Russle Stover also makes a similar candy)

You are correct.
Also, I'm perplexed...I got an e-mail saying that my thread was moved to Old School, but I could have sworn this is where I posted in in the first place (at least that was my intent). Oh well, chalk it up to unsolved mystery.

I remember the first time they came out. They also made them for a brief period of time when Reggie got elected to the Hall of Fame. Each candy bar had a special Upper Deck Reggie Jackson card with it. There were three different cards in all. They were kind of funny to look at since the A's and Yankees logos on his hat and uniform were air brushed out.
