The dating game theme song, by Herb Alpert.
Actualy, I hate instrumentals, they suck!
I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker
the last half of the Stones "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"...
Reeshy, I couldn't agree more! In that same vein I'd include the coda to "Layla".
There are so many:
"YYZ", Rush
"Pet Sounds/"Run James Run", The Beach Boys
"Quadrophenia", The Who
"The Clap", Yes
"Walk Don't Run", The Ventures
"Hideaway", Eric Clapton (with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers)
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed....Allman Brothers Band
Jessica....ABB
Oh yeah. I'd add "Don't Want You No More" from the first album and "Little Martha" from "Eat A Peach".
And:
"And The Address", Deep Purple
"Difficult To Cure", Rainbow
"Bron-Yr-Aur", Led Zeppelin

Santo & Johnny's "Sleepwalk"

Lyle Lovett & His large Band "Blues Walk"

Wow, I did a college radio show of electronic, progressive, and instrumental music...
Fanfare for the Common Man by Emerson Lake and Palmer [yep, #2 on that all time worst list]. Hey, it rocks, if you've watched sports TV youve prolly even heard it. It's a take off on the original by Aaron Copland
Rush? Hmm, for me, again not an instrumentsal; but the enture beginning to Xanadu; especially the Live version...
Ministry has some great instrumentals on A Mind Is A Terribel Thing...and Land of Milk and Honey, and some others, Jourgensen rocks...
Yes? Hmm, only seen them about 15 times; I'm going with...hmmm...hell The Clap, whoever said it, it rocks, but I LOVE Siberian Khatru
Floyd: Whoever said 'Terminal Frost', yes!!! what a fantastic album...I'm gonna go with the entire Wish You were Here Album EXCEPT the title track and Have a Cigar; leaving Shine On and Welcome to the machine; these are pretty frigging close to instrumentals...
Robert Fripp [King Crimson, Played with Peter Gabrial, David Bowie, Andy Summers... and #42 on the Rolling Stone top 100 Artists] has over a dozen instrumental albums. Most fantastic.
Ditto with David Sylvian [ex-Japan]
Kraftwerk!!!! ALL OF IT
But autobahn
trans europe express
computer love
pocket calculator
Peter Gabriel: Soundtracks to 'Birdy' and 'The Last Temptation of Christ'
Allmans? Again, not an instrumental, but
Grateful Dead: I am no dead head; but the instrumental sections to the studi version of 'Terrapin Station' are out of this world.
King Crimson: Deception of the Thrush
Metallica; The Bass Solo by Cliff [sorry, cant remember title, sorry DMM], and a lot of the parts where they dont talk on 'shortest straw' and others
...I'm missing the whole 'no lyrics in the song thing'...
Do non-rockers like:
Laurie Anderson
Brian Eno
Philip Glass
Steve Wright
John Williams

Take Five - Dave Brubeck
What an AWESOME instrumental.
Sometimes I play music, and this is on the list of songs in 5/4 time; hence the title.
Americans love 4/4 time; 5/4 is rare. Here are some songs in five; listen and count, it aint 1,2,3,4. Its 1,2,3,4,5 repeat. Cool!
In 5/4:
My Wave: Soundgarden
Take Five: Brubeck
Face Dances: Pete Townshend
Time is Tight - Booker T & the MG's
Good call! And "Soul Limbo" rocks too!

I don't care if it's been said already, because it hasn't been said loudly enough for all to hear and learn and KNOW.
ANYTHING BY THE METERS.
Daaaaaaaamn skippy.
Oh, wait, almost forgot. The Beastie Boys put out a stellar comp of their funk-based instrumentals, "The In Sound From Way Out!". It's so good it makes me feel tingly just thinking about it.

WHAT?????
(I am actually offended by this comment.)
Beetoven's 1812 Overture

Actually thats a Tchaikovsky tune, Great song!
It Simulated the war of 1812 by musically putting the french and russian national anthems at war.Very interesting idea, and to pull it off the way he did was a work of brilliance.

I've seen them at MSG twice.
It just ain't live. They're running 96 TRACKS of protools with their live show.
I'm not here to argue the finer points but, part of their "show" is that they continually smash & trash their instruments during the show. Smacking the keyboards, smashing guitars, little pieces flying everywhere.
The "roadies" come out and pretend to reset the gear. In the meantime.... the overall sound and performance wasn't affected.
The keyboards get smashed and soaked, Trent would spill water on everything... the roadies would swap out the gear.... and yet the sounds are coming from "somewhere".
Also.... just listen to it. Things are backwards. That doesn't exist in nature. Pre-verb everywhere. This is heavily heavily automated.

Really? The last two times I saw them, they didn't smash anything.
Plus, part of their show is the show. It's usually a very visually appealing concert.

I was referring SPIRAL & FRAGILE tours.
I saw them 2x at MSG and again a few years later in Toronto. The destruction of the stage gear was distracting and repetitive.
Good songs.
PS:
That was not sarcasm. I do love their songs.
Arco Arena - Cake
Sleep Walk - Santo & Johnny
Sandstorm - DaRude
I, too, like Jessica by ABB.

Mono, "A Thousand Paper Cranes", based on the story of a girl who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima but contracted leukemia later, and who tried to fold 1,000 origami cranes, following an old legend that doing so cures you of any disease. Since then, folding paper cranes has been used as a way to commemorate the Hiroshima bombing.
