There's a great Italian hero joint on the corner of Crosby Ave. and the Bruckner Expressway. Been there for years and it probably has the greatest hero's I've ever had!! Also has the best pepper and eggs you'll ever find!!!! The Bronx has it all!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grandma's!

Oh my grandmother (God bless her soul) used to make the greatest peppers and eggs. She would also put potatoes in there, put it on a half of Italian bread, lightly toasted, pour on some ketchup and breakfast, lunch, or dinner was served!

My gramma use to make it like yours Pantera! Its really very easy to make it yourself and you dont need to go to resturant to enjoy it. I pour a bit of olive oil in a deep wok type teflon pan, and cook some slivered onions down until they are transparent, and add some red and green bell pepper slices. I stir fry this with some slivered potatoes if I have them available until the onion starts to brown and the peppers are getting soft and browning on their edges. Then, I scramble 2 or 3 eggs and add them to this mixture and allow the moisture to cook off a bit while preparing a loaf of Italian bread. I cut the loaf in half and scoop out a bit of the bread's center and place it in a warm oven while the eggs cook. When the eggs are done, simply tip the mixture into the scooped out loaf of bread and serve. Mama Mia!

[color=purple]Check out Frankie & Johnnie's Pine Tavern on Bronxdale Avenue (a few blocks south of Morris park Ave.).

The heros are huge, only 5 bucks and fucking fantastic. I've never had their peppers and eggs, but everything there taste good. And it's also a great place to just hang and have a few rounds.
