I saw this movie the other day on Starz of all places. i missed the first 10 mins, but eventually did see those missing 10 minutes (Thank you IO and Starz West).

Since seeing it, i've been hunting for it on DVD, i found a couple places on the net. And i even found it on VHS on one site, and they wanted 100 bux because the VHS is out of print. Complete insanity, anywho. . . Let me sum up the movie.

SERIES 7 consists of six episodes of a fictional television game show called The Contenders. On the show, non-actors are given handguns, quickly explained the very basic rules (kill the other contestants) and told to "play," with a goal of winning by staying alive. Ultraviolent and psychologically disturbing, the film unrolls in the frenetic style of network television, never pausing for reflection. Written and directed by Daniel Minahan (cowriter of the screenplay for 1996's I SHOT ANDY WARHOL), SERIES 7 makes a timely comment on the rising popularity of actual television reality games shows.

Note: this movie was made before Survivor and the shows after that. However was released, limitedly, after Survivor 1 was halfway done.

If you were to tune in halfway though the movie, you might believe its an actually TV show.

It played for awhile at the now closed Foundry Theatre here in Washington. While it might have already been made, or in production, during the first SURVIVOR, it wasn't released until afterwards.

I liked it, but it didn't stick with me the same way BATTLE ROYAL did - a very disturbing movie from Japan about a reality tv show where teenagers are forced to kill each other - only one can live. - which I had seen a month or two earlier.

i did a thread about Battle Royale many moons ago. that movie rocks and still is amazing. Series 7 was meant to seem like a reality TV show, hence why things aren't showed so much. such as the birth and the cane killing

In my opinion, there's nothing in this world beats a '52 Vincent and a red headed girl.

It's on either the Sundance Channel or IFC all the time.

Keep a look out for it.
