"IT" is ending on Sci-Fi right now. I remember seeing it when it was on NBC I think, in 1990. Another one I think was made for TV is the one with the curse making people sick i think.
Coming up in "Sometimes they come back" to be followed by "Sometimes They Come Back Again" .I've never seen either of these but if theyre not to much for my kids I'll watch them for the first time tonight.
What are the best Stephen King movies?

Misery, Shawshank Redemption, and The Shining.
The rest had little or nothing to do with the books at all.

Doesn't King dislike Kubrick's "The Shining" for this very reason?

Hmmm,
i know the books better, but in order...
Carrie: Great Movie. Faithful to book.
Salens Lot = ???
The Shining = Fantastic and scary as hell. Yes King dislikes this version; it is quite different from the book, may be one reason.
The Stand = The ultimate Book that will probably never be made into the movie it should be, I'd say because the movie it should be I'd guess would be at least 10 hours long. The TV-Movie with Molly Ringwald and Gary Sinese had promise, but this is horror, you need an R at least to this this Magnum Opus service.
Cujo = Great start but it ends up a big dog vs car, and sin of all sins, they cleaned it up. I guess I'll save the Spoiler, but book and movie end completely different.
Firestarter = Not bad but hasnt aged well.
Christine = I love this movie, and I know it stinks! But I like it.
Maximum Overdrive = King was involved; therefore it's unwatchable.
It = Not Bad for a Tv movie! But again, like most King stuff, it has to end, and this one doesnt end well; I mean the book is easily one of his best, and in the end in the TV movie; it's them vs. a big spider thing? Ugh. But the beginning had promise. Again, needs the NC-17 treatment.
Misery = Fantastic, but the book is much grosser. Dont remake it; you wont do better.
Pet Semetary = ahhh the book that was rumored to be the rumored book so scary he wouldnt couldnt whatever publish it. This book actually made me cry. Having said that, the movie is better then average for me. Scared me a lot more then I would have thought
Stand by Me = Perfection. The Body.
Green Mile = Just about deserved Best Picture, for me. Maybe you had to read the series first, but Michael Clarke Duncan WAS John Coffey. Best ensemble work of any king movie..oh wait maybe stand by me.
Shawshank Redemption = When i saw this movie at the end I was like, 'They finally did it! they made the movie of the World the book described.
Hearts In Atlantis = I am so angry at everyone involved in butchering what was a Fantastic Book, what a great book, into a piece of steaming shit. It ignores a lot of the book; which is done in many chapters over the central figurers FUCK i cant spell it pisses me OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Running Man = A travesty. Why this piece of shit is even called the running man is beyond me. It has almost NOTHING to do with the book; and the book [novella really, written in one weekend when he was young, and not a word touched since, says King] is one of his best. Read this awesome dystopian tome!
Um....
Movies that Should ROCK
Desperation [how, oh how, oh how...???]
Regulators: ditto.
The Long Walk = god i love this
Road Work = this to me, is the best thing he ever wrote. A novella. It's easily the saddest, and in it's own way, the scariest for me.
Rage = already done in other ways or shouldnt Be done, i guess
I'm too tired and pissed off now to think more...

Misery, Shawshank, Stand by Me, The Shining (Kubrick's version, not the godawful TV miniseries with that guy from "Wings"), Green Mile were all quite good.
"IT" is, IMO, his best made-for-TV translation, thanks almost completely to the wonderfully over-the-top performance of Tim Curry as everyone's favorite demon clown Pennywise.
Everything else ranges from mediocre to just downright awful.
The WORST of the bunch is King's made-specifically-for-film work. "Sleepwalkers", "Storm of the Century", "Rose Red". He should be ashamed of all of them.

Is the Captain a member of the proud 2%?
He should be most ashamed of Maximum Overdrive, which is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
What the hell was the point of making Needful Things into a movie when they ended up leaving out half the story, then drastically changing the part they left. It almost had nothing to do with the book.

One of the best movies and some of the best acting i've ever seen...
This movie really brought to the screen what "shamefully" goes on within TOO many families. The physical abuse of his wife and the sexual abuse of his daughter.
