I'm with Funk, Tyson was a heavy puncher with minimal boxing skill. He lost what little style he had when the Custmato(spellin) was cut loose, then died. Tyson became even more of a brawler, and as soon as he fought a good "true boxer", he was humiliated. Hell, I don't think Tyson knows what a jab is, and neither did any of his second class competition during his streak. He was the "slam dunker" of boxing. Great power and visual game, but no true skills to his sport. He's not even up there with the other belt holders of his time, let alone all-time.

And let's not forget that we are in probably the worst boxing era to date. Most athletes go after the bright lights that surround the other sports of Basketball, Football and such. Years ago, boxing was the biggest sport in terms of dollars for an athlete. Not quite the same case with the salaries in the major league sports in this era. Hence Tyson can't even fight his way to the top in a time where a 50+ aged boxer might actually have a shot, a light punching Brit commands the belts, and the Klitcho (spelling, who cares) brothers are actually even known. Sorry but you can lump yourself into your very own implied statement that I'm just rehashing something I was told or watched. You quoted "the experts" yourself in an effort to support your cause. In his prime, Tyson could have beat ANYONE. He was VERY aggressive and had GREAT side to side head movement. He used to be like a pit bull, always on the attack, and yes, back when he was good he HAD a jab.
Buster did a fantastic job training for the fight and really fought well, but he did NOTHING after. Maybe if he held the belt for a while, but Buster was a bust.

I'll admit that right now, Tyson is not half the boxer he once was, but back in the pre-Buster Dougass days, Tyson was greatest fighter I had ever seen. He dominated the sport. Tyson was not the rapist, was not the thug, was not the maniac he is today. He was more focused. I believe his worst offense at the time was streetbrawling with Mitch "Blood" Greene. He was a very deserving champion at the time. A million times more than Buster Douglass was.

actually, the klitscho brothers are both very well rounded boxers...

BUT... once he beats evander holyfield(even though holyfield is over the hill), roy jones junior will be the best boxer to ever fight. why you ask? he is a NATURALK 157lb fighter. his only loss came in his first fight. and he has then marched through every single weight division above the one he was in and dominated it. never dodging a fight. When someone challanged him, he took it. He had never backed down.

Look, lenix lewis is challanging rjj. Rjj is like 5'7 or 5'8 at a NATURAL 157lb fighter while lewis is 6'6 250lb. If rjj were to fight lewis and come out victorous. You absolutely cannot be serious. Roy Jones is clearly the greatest boxer alive and dismantled the Heavyweight Champion of the World. He is so great that he makes everything look so easy. He is 100% correct about Holyfield. Evander is old. he didn't rule out Byrd. he said he'd wants the money. Jones is NOT a heavyweight for God's sakes. He's a light heavyweight. he shouldn't have to fight Byrd.

Jones showed what control is all about. Ruiz was never able to get in the game. He even feared Roy's power as was evident by how he was buying the head fakes from a mile away. That was an amazing thing to see.

Roy is now a Heavy Weight. Does anyone remember that he started off as a Middle Weight. Moved to Super Middle, to Cruiser, to Light-Heavy. This is a man who has fought at 5 different weigth classes and has outclassed everyone in the ring. There is none finer.

Jones beat a heavyweight champion and it has pissed a lot of people off. Now they want Jones to fly to the moon to prove himself. He's the greatest boxer in the world POUND FOR POUND until somebody proves him wrong. Losing to lewis would not change that. Ray Robinson lost to Joey Maxim at light heavtweight and he's still considered the best of all time. It was not a boring fight to me. It showed how a great fighter can dismantle a bigger opponent and take the fight out of him. I saw all the technical aspects of what Roy was doing and thought it was great.

It seems to be ok when Sugar Ray Leonard fought that all-time great (being sarcastic) Donny LaLonde. Hell leonard wouldn't even fight the man at his weight (175) but made him come down to 167. Leonard even got sat on his ass!! Now should we discuss his fights with Duran (a natural 135 lber) or how about an out of prime Hagler? Yet people revere Leonard.

What did Ali do when he fought Foreman? Rope-A-Dope. What did RJJ do when he faced Ruiz? Toe-to-toe baby and didn't even get a scratch.

During the first half of the fight they were all questioning whether Roy Jones Jr could handle the punches, the weight, etc. Then After the 6th or so round, they started in on how Ruiz was not that great of a fighter. Where the hell was all this talk in the beginning.

I hate to put it out there like that, but Roy Jones Jr is just that damn good. George Foreman would not let them discredit Roy Jones Jr victory and I am glad. It took a lot of skill, and Ruiz was a legitimate heavyweight champion.

Let's add this. He's been a pro for 14 years and is 34 years old and he emerged from the Ruiz fight without a scratch on his face. Ruiz may have landed 2 significant blows. Now people want Jones to beat Holyfield (which he could do) even though Ruiz fought him 3 times. Then what? Jones faces Lewis? Is this what "boxing fans" want? My ass. They just want to see Jones lose.

I don't think people should start comparing him to Lewis.... Lewis is a natural heavyweight. RJJ is the pound for pound best fighter I have ever seen. Lewis is 6'6 or 6'7 and is NATURALLY 250-260 lbs. Roy Jones Jr. is 5'9 and NATURALLY 157 lbs.

Jones is the best POUND FOR POUND in the world. He needn't face the Klitchkos or Lewis or Tyson. He's not a natural heavyweight. He's a natural 154 lber. "Fans" need to remember that.
