After I saw the little 15 second blurb on this series before the start of SFU this season, this caught my eye. I love the history behind the old time Circus and Carnival of old. Especially the travelling carnivals of old and the many freaks that went along with it.

This series looks really cool and historically accurate to boot. The costumes, sets and asmosphere of the whole thing looks amazing.

I caught the 15 minute preview this past weekend and it just looked phemominal. Especially the Tarot card animations they had which were really mind blowing.

Anyone else on board for this?

This is why I love HBO. You'd never see something like this on any other channel. I got a little CD in last week's Entertainment Weekly which had a little trailer on it. Looks like it blends the old time circus, magic, creepy atmosphere and an evil preacher. I like it already.

As long as it doesn't flush everything that made it great down the toilet in the third season a la "Six Feet Under", it should be pretty damn watchable.

Ithought the third season of six feet under was great. What did you not like about it mojo? Though i still have not seen the last episode so maybe that was terrible but overall the 3rd to me was the best

It got all boring and soap opera-ish and abandoned all the weird "offness" that made the show so great in the first two seasons. At points it even got "wacky". Look at all the stuff they put the mom through this last season. And Keith and David and their friends became nothing but gat cay cartoons. All in all, it just left me VERY wanting.

Did anyone see this last Sunday? Strange and odd but overall very original. I've read a couple reviews where the story really comes together at the third episode. Next weeks will most likely still set things up. I like it and I'll be tuning in. Ok, now I sound like a reviewer.

I really enjoyed this. A series like this could never be done correctly on network tv and would fail because it wouldn't get network ratings. Some of the most original writing I have seen since the early X files. Might even be too good for people to understand why it is good. There has never been anything like it on T.V.
This must have been written by comic writers because it is too good for T.V. to come up with.

I didn't see anything, I didn't hear anything, I wasn't there and if I was there I was asleep.

Entertaining show. I liked it. But if the dwarf at the beginning was going to start talking backwards, I was going to turn it off on the spot.

Looking forward to the Ben/Preacher showdown...

Liked it a lot, it has got me hooked unless it starts getting stupid, but I doubt that. I love having new shows to get into, especially when it's something you wouldn't see anywhere else. The summer sucked for TV.

What do you guys think? I wasn't as into the 2nd episode but I'll give it a little more time since they're trying to set up the rest of the season.

I enjoyed it, but it was more about the story than the characters, since we met them in the first episode.

I assume the gentleman and the soldier represent Ben and the Preacher (we saw Ben in the tux in the previews), and that all hell will break loose when they meet.

I missed the first episode, but saw the second and third: I can't begin to describe how much i love this show! This may be the only thing on tv that i have to set aside time to watch anymore.

Great episode last night. I get what Jim Hawkin's gift is - but I am lost on the preacher because I missed the second episode.

Any help here? Was it explained in the second episode?

This show just keeps getting better. It seems like 'management' is simply moving for the sole reason of getting Hawkins to unravel his past (and powers). I like how they don't reveal if the management is a force for good or evil. they're so much moral ambiguity here and southern gothic goodness that's it's just oozing--like Flannery O'Conner meets Robert Towne.

I can't wait till next week, when we see some "Carnie Justice."

The ending was cool last night. I loved the whole Armeggedon speech the priest gave but I too am "Huh?".

I think the priest is actually a demon from hell? But is he starting a church to worship satan? This show better get renewed - which it hasn't yet.

My only complaint is that they don't answer enough questions, just create alot of new ones. And he isn't necessarily a devil, he just refers to himself as one.
