View Full Version : I Can See Clearly Now the Rain Is Gone

I have this male friend who I am very very close with. We hang out all of the time. It seems, though, he has been unlucky in love as of late. There is another female acquaintance that hangs out with my group of friends that is around a lot as well. She is totally playing my good male friend for what he is worth. She is known for hanging all over guys and flirting with them just so they buy her drinks, get her something, or just because she doesn't have her boyfriend around at the time. She is a known cheater (on all of her boyfriends that I know of), and a drama queen. Well, I have told my male friend all about her. She even told him herself that she doesn't want a relationship, yet every time she starts to flirt with him, he buys her things again. This is totally affecting my friendship with the guy because he is letting this girl lead him around by the leash, and I think the world of him. As for the girl, she feels my animosity because she is playing my friend. I told her not to fuck with his head, and that is what she is doing. What advice would you give? I am frustrated with both of them, so I just ignore them now, but I don't want to ignore him.

If he is aware that shes playing him and still buys her stuff, then it means he must enjoy being played. Some guys still go out of their way to be polite and nice to women that have yanked them a few times (I have) and wether its a matter of politeness or stupidity, I think its a little pre-programmed. We all do things sometimes that dont have a direct benefit for us (holding a door for an old person) unless its to make us feel good about ourselves. As long as the guy knows, maybe make a little gesture or saying that you and the guy agree to so that when its happeneing, he is aware that you are aware.

i know it sucks to watch this happen but you're going to have to just let it go.
if you told him all this about her and he continues to do the same stuff there's not much more you can do. yeah it makes you mad to see, but if someone is going to act that way with the girl regardless of what you told him about her there's nothing to do.
it might be better for him if he gets played, at least he'll learn something from it. sometimes it's the only way to learn anything.
but whatever you do don't get in a fight about it with him or her, that won't get anything positive done.
and maybe that's just the way he is. i buy drinks for girls i know i have no chance with, and don't want to have a chance with. it's just a nice thing to do.
if he's been your friend for this long don't lose him, but if you fight with him about it you might end up doing just that. but you did all you could do kat, let him grow up on his own from there. and oh yeah if he does get hurt don't pull the old i told you so either, that does no good at all.
but i hope it works out for all of you. well maybe not the flirty girl but you and your friend at least.

Since you already warned him about the girl already and he still does it (buy stuff), then it's all on him (maybe he just likes feeling wanted).
BUT if he's doing this stuff in the HOPES of furthering the relationship to something that is not there (he sees it one way, the other girl dosen't), then continue to warn him by expressing that you are looking out for his best interest and as a friend, you don't want him to be taken advantage of which you feel that he is with the girl.
BUT remember, if he already has the goo-goo eyes for that girl then it will be harder for you to convince him what you may believe may be happening and the more you try, the harder he will resist. BUT as a good friend, you'll be there for him when he comes crashing down to earth. AFTER ALL, That's what friends are for.

Yes, you are all correct. I don't feel like being labeled the "bitch" for telling the truth. The fact is though, I can't help but be a "bitch" to this girl. I know her too long and too well to deal with her crap anymore. Thank you everyone. Sometimes you need people outside the situation to help you realize what you should be doing.

try not to be too catty with the gal.
As far as your guy friend, he ain't gonna listen now.
You're gonna have to be patient and smart about how and when you tell him.
Some of us guys are just suckers like that.
One thing you can do for him is get him out around other women, so when the Vulture swoops in, he's preoccupied with another.

i just don't know why you are still friends with this girl, katylina. you are so sweet, i just don't get it. you obviously don't like how she behaves, especially when it is hurting someone that you care about. but i guess that's your decision, and not really what this thread is about.
as far as your male friend, i agree with the others that you need to just let him do his thing, even if you know that it's stupid. you've said your part to warn him, you've done what you could. all that's left is to just wait it out until he inevitably gets hurt, and then you'll be there for him. it is not a fun situation. good luck.

I actually do not like the girl or hang out with her on my own personal time. She is always with my other two friends who are dating. She wrote me an email to me today asking why I was mad, and I told her everything straight out. Thank you everyone again.

She wrote me an email to me today asking why I was mad, and I told her everything straight out. Good for you! Honesty is an admirable trait regardless of what the consequences may be. I hope your friend will listen to reason. realize that you have his best interests at heart and hopefully he will realize that these dry spells end. And the girl? May the next gift she receives be herpes, the gift that keeps on giving.

Maybe you should just throw caution to the wind, take the bull by the horns, get down to brass tacks, talk turkey, and bang the bejeezus out of him.
I have a funny feeling that your guy friend really wont be talking to that girl anymore. I think he finally knows that shes not worth chasing after or getting played for. He was REALLY stupid to think that maybe , just maybe she could change her ways, but nah hubcaps will be that way so fuck her. She really needs to dissapear for a while and get her thoughts together (and a sence of fassion) I think you did the right thing by telling her the truth and letting her know you're tired of her Bullshit. I know your male friend is really happy to know someone like you. Maybe you should just throw caution to the wind, take the bull by the horns, get down to brass tacks, talk turkey, and bang the bejeezus out of him.Yea he'd like that alot, but really cant think of you that way cause you're too good of a friend. But hell maybe one day..............................;);););)
