What percentage of your hearing would be lost . .

if you had your outer ear cut off? We all know that your outer ear acts as a sort of radar dish. It collects the soundwaves and funnels them down into your ear canal and eventually onto your eardrum, blah blah blah . . . and you hear sounds. If you lost both outer ears, what would the result be, 25% loss, 50%, 75%?

Secondly, I haven't got high on any sort of regular basis in quite a while. In fact I've only smoked twice in the past year. One was New Year's Eve, and the other wasn't today.

I knew a guy in high school who was either born without an outer ear or had lost it in an accident.
After a particularly tough test where the questions were read out by the teacher, the guys were standing around comparing grades.
One guy said: "I heard __ got a 50".
Another guy said: "That's because he could only hear half of the questions!" then he turned around and saw __ and just about died of embarrassment.

anyway, if you really wanna figure out how much different hearing would be without an outer ear, just roll up a piece of paper or get a straw and place over your ear canal, and viola!
