Before Channel 5 (forgot what the original station in NY was) became Fox as it is now, they broke in slowly by only being the Fox channel for 2 days a week.
Some of the post discussing former Fox shows reminded me of this and other shows on Fox during this time. They included: (I think)
Tracey Ullman show
Garry Shandling show
21 Jump Street
Married with Children
Duet
Herman's Head
Boys will be Boys (Matthew Perry's early work)
In Living Color
I'm not sure what other shows came out and if the shows listed above came out during the initial stages of the FOX network.
The Ron and Fez show transcends all boundaries!

I turn my TV on for the OC, and then it goes right off until next week.

I remember a show with George C Scott as the president.

The history of FOX 5.
It was originally WNEW Channel 5.
Then changed to WNYW Channel 5, FOX TV.
Married with Children was the only show to survive that transition.
I remember that because it was around the same time Datsun changed its name to Nissan. (give or take a year or 2)

Was it a series called "Mr. President" (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0092407)? It only ran for one season 1987-88.
