Im the first to admit, i usually knock iverson. i dont care for him as a person or for his antics, though i do repect his abilities on a court. though any super star should shoot better than 37%.
anyway i dont have an article, im just reading the paper, but for the first time i can say ive gained some respect for allen. If anyone has the chance, he made some really classy comments along the lines of he wont speculate, everyone who wasnt there and doesnt know says this and that, and its not fair to kobe if i say when i have no idea what went on. He also said he feels bad for kobe if it ends up he went through this and didnt do it, but also feels for the vicim and her family for having to go through it as well.

Do not respect Allen Iverson for saying these things. I can only assume you were expecting him to say something else based on his previous antics. Either you were expecting him to rip into Kobe and say he's a rapist, or (and I'm sure this was more likely your feeling) he was going to attack the woman saying she was a whore and is just looking for money. Instead, he says something that any normal, level-headed person of even the basest intelligence would say. By giving him credit for not showing his usual anti-social type behavior, you're lowering the bar and expectations for him and everyone else in the future.

Rewarding people for doing what they're supposed to breeds mediocrity. If everyone gets a prize, no matter how they perform, excellence becomes meaningless.

Edit: Let me clarify, do not give Iverson any MORE respect based on these statements.
