The XFL was a good idea that the media refused to let off the ground. Vince Mcmahon ran it, so the entire media made sure to ruin it. Mcmahon did make a mistake of putting it on Saturday nights on primetime. It should have been a Saturday/Sunday afternoon game on TNN and put the game of the week on a local channel like channel 9 or something.

If it was given a chance it could have succeeded or at least had a chance to. Tommy Maddox won the MVP and is now the starting QB for the Steelers. The NFL copied some of the rules and camera work like the over the field cam.

not to knock the XFL, and the overhead cams were taken, though they were actually in baseball first(the over the top of homeplate angle). That being said, name me 1 rule the NFL copied from the XFL. Basically, the XFL changed like 2 rules, and the NFL doesnt use em

jayson williams. he had a mediocre rookie year, and now he will likely never play basketball again.

From a long line of Heisman Trophy winners, two-time winner Archie Griffin stands out.
Brian Bosworth.
The 100 million dollar 'Skin's team a few years ago where they brought in Deion, Mark Carrier, Jeff George, etc. and finished 8-8.
Oscar Bonavena.
Mike Tyson- hasn't beaten anyone any good in, what, 15 years? In time he'll be seen as a flash-in-the-pan.

there are so many too count:

1. Drew Henson -- 4yrs $22 mil guarenteed from the yankees and he may never even make AAA ball

2. Brien Taylor -- another Yankee Bust

3. Hideki Irabu -- another Yankee Bust

4. Any Running Back from Penn St. who gets picked in the pros since 1980

5. Heath Shuler was a huge bust

6. Dan Wilkinson - #1 pick overall

7. Any player that is drafted by the Bullets/Wizards who isnt traded

8. Wes Unseld GM/ Susan O' Malley President of Wizards (now those are two big boobs)

9. XFL was great and i agree no media support because it was Vince McMahon they killed it off. But you also forgot players like Kevin Swayne of the Jets who played XFL, Jose Cortez, and there are a couple of others floating around who were XFL'ers. And yes the NFL did change alot, like the way they shoot the game alot of the angles were taken from how the XFL shot them (and dont compare baseball with football and the way they are produced two different games). Not to mention the NFL changed the amount that a 10 year veteran would count against the salary cap because of all the NFL guys who couldnt get a job at 10 years because the minimum salary is $1 MILLION now the NFL has changed that so they get one million but only count i believe either 350k or 450k against the cap.

The biggest bust of all time -- Rich Kotite/Ray Handley how the whole city of N.Y. didnt kill themselves all at once when these guys were actually coaching at the same time both of the N.Y. teams

The XFL was a good idea that the media refused to let off the ground.

the media didn't kill the xfl -- it was given a primetime slot on a major network .... there just wasn't the market for another sports league .... if there was a viable crowd week in/week out the league would still be around ....

and the the quality of the product lacked a star quality (kind of watching an 'extreme' class AA minor league baseball game .....

Roberto Alomar as a Met....who can forget the great Blair Thomas?
The 2002 & 2003 NY Mets

Vince Coleman and his HOF career...lol lol lol

Anthony Young and his NY Mets career...I believe he lost 29 games in a row.

How come most of the busts are Mets?

Gregg Jefferies was a big one. I remeber how this guy was talked up as the next great thing in baseball. He took over at second base for Howard Johnson in th '88 NLCS. The next year started out kind of rough, and he would start having temper tantrums when he would strike out. All he turned out to be was a whiny little baby.

And the reason the XFL folded was because the level of talent was too low. I watched the first week and really tried to watch more, but I just couldn't.

It was clear that those players were not professionals for a reason. They just weren't good enough. The only exception was the league's best player, Tommy Maddox.
