Mixed drinks

Is there really a problem with drinking scotch, then diet coke, then beer (Michelob Light) then some saltines, then repeating? Does beer really interfere? I mean, I would never go swimming right afterward or anything, I am just asking if the drinks are compatible.

What about 8 oz. wine, alternated with 4 oz. scotch?

Heck, what about just scotch.

When I used to drink, me and my buddy would either get the $20 bottle of Jack Daniels with a 6 pack or the $10 bottle of Jack and a 12 pack.

I never vomited.

If you're not getting hungover, then who cares? But I have read that carbonation (like in beer) can speed up the assimilation of alcohol, so if you go from scotch to coke to beer, all the CO2 is likely to increase the rate at which the alcohol (including from the scotch) is absorbed in your stomach... which means you will ge drunker faster, and morelikely to get dehydrated and therefore hungover. I guess it's the same reason why champagne seems to make people feel so tipsy so quickly.

What gives you a hangover is really dependent on you though... like I know that vodka will always make me sick. I don't know why, it just does. Meanwhile, I could drink a bottle of wine, 5 mudslides and then a 6 pack of beer and be totally fine. Other people will get awful hangovers from something as sugary as a mudslide.

At the very least though, I'd suggest drinking water somewhere in there.. diet coke is only going to dehydrate you even more with all the caffeine it has in it, and you should be looking to rehydrate while you're drinking, not dehydrate.

Usually after 5 drinks or so I chug a water or two and then start alternating water and alcohol, or depending on how inebriated I am, I might just drink water for the rest of the night. There's no shame in it!! I rarely get hungover (usually it's from vodka!!)

Here's a valuable tip from a grizzled vet: antacid.
I goes with the Tums, assorted fruit flavor. Before drinking, while I'm drinking, and before I go to sleep.
it won't keep a hangover completely away, but it'll help much by cooling out the chemical war in your stomach between the alcohol and your stomach acid.
When I go out drinking, I carry several in my pocket.
Also, first thing in the morning before I'm even out of bed, if I've been drinking.

Have a glass of water(Gatorade) and crackers before
Then Scotch till you feel it/
A beer to ride the evening out
Repeat step 1 before bed

when i was in vegas, i tried to make the best drink ever:

3 parts everclear (grain alcohol)
2 parts red gatorade
1 part red bull

i figured the gatorade would fight off the dessert heat, red bull for energy, and the everclear to save me a couple bucks. after the 3rd drink, wasn't so bad. if i'd do it again, i think equal parts gatorade/ hiwaiian puch just might do it.
