Well, it looks like the rumors are true, straight from the Opie's mouth. Anthony did indeed suffer a heart attack at some point during the extended vacation. It's mentioned in passing about 1/2 way down this article:

Shock jocks plotting return to radio flock

by Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa
Tuesday, July 29, 2003

Silenced shock jock Greg ``Opie'' Hughes and his partner Anthony Cumia, fired for broadcasting a sex romp in St. Patrick's Cathedral, are planning a radio comeback sometime next year, our spies report.

Opie, who was in town last week, is telling pals that he and Anthony are hoping to be back with a syndicated show sometime after their contract with Infinity Broadcasting runs out - in about 10 months.

``They haven't got anything nailed down because stations are still leery of the sex thing,'' said one Opie pal. As you may recall, Opie & Dopey - who dominated afternoon drive in many markets - were fired from their syndicated gig after they coaxed a white trash couple into having sex in the New York diocese's holiest of holies. Earlier in their storied career, the boys were bounced out of WAAF after an April Fool's Day joke report that Mayor Tom Menino was killed in a car crash.

Our spies say that Infinity has been paying the duo their massive salaries during the enforced hiatus to keep them from working elsewhere. Opie also told pals that his former on-air partner suffered a heart attack during the sabbatical but that Ant's fully recovered.

The boys' agent, Robert Eatman, declined to comment on all of the above but did allow as how there's nothing new on the career horizon. ``They hope to work as soon as they can but there's nothing to report now,'' he said.

Radio pundits say that once the duo is free to work, they still have the problem of finding a station - or group - willing to take a chance on their raunchy schtick.

``I heard they were thinking about cable TV,'' said another pal. ``And there's also satellite radio because they aren't controlled by the FCC.'' Do stay tuned.

F you to the manatees that write for the Inside Track at the Boston Herald. They wrote a whole article thinking they know what's up with Ant and I. They quoted an Opie "pal" throughout the entire article. Let me tell you something...none of my "pals" would ever talk to your sorry asses!!!
