Looking at the schedual i see alot of wins for us....Dallas, Houston, Jax, Pitt, are 4 pretty definate wins in my book. Phily and NYG, Tenn and Washington are higher competition. Ofcourse they visit Oakland again as usuall.

I had low expectations last year and they were decent. I have low expectations again this year so maybe they'll surprise me again. Other teams may have the book on Pennington now so he better play hard. Herm needs to get to the playoffs or he's in trouble. Lotsa coaches lookin for work. They can't dig up Weeb, but Buddy Ryan is still a living Jet Superbowl coach. That being said, I still have hope for Herm to keep the team focused.

if the giants underachive, which they usually do when they are expected to do well, i will infact eat my words. i have no prob with that, im a braves fan, so i do it just about every october anyway, so whats an extra week. however, about the playoffs last year, the jets did make the second round. after super bowl predictions in the pre season. the giants blew the first round, after last place in division predictions from everyone in preseason.
thats the only responce i can give the comes close to justifying that playoff part. ya know, why are we hard on each other, jets and giants fans, when we both always end up cryin about the same shit right around the same time. we should just console each other

coles was not that amazing of a reciever, and the only reason he was spotlighted was because of previously mentioned #10. conway+moss+chrebet= coles however. none of them will b labeled penningtons 'favorite' reciever. the recieving numbers will be more distributed.

if it takes 3 receivers to equal one then yeah they are in trouble. Conway hasnt played 16 games in a season in like 3 years and only once in like the last 5 years. Santana Moss has been pretty much a bust but did come on late last season.
The loss of Randy Thomas will hurt, and with the Jets needing to give both Abraham and Pennington new contracts next year I would say this may be Curtis Martins last year with the Jets because of contract issues - they pay LaMont Jordan less and he may be ready for the full time job

look at every first quarter of the preseason so far, he hasnt missed a step. the only reason he has incompletes is cuz of recievers fucking up. he doenst rely on his arm, if he did i would agree that he might not repeat last seasons performance. but he's a smart player, his football IQ is astounding. his asset is he doenst make mistakes, he barely throws any interceptions. if he was say tommy maddux i would b very skeptical. maddux got by on luck as well as talent. pennington didnt. he made coles into a star, he made the jets offense extremely consistant. he's not getting by on arm strength, just being intelligent.

Laverneus Coles made himself a star not Pennington. Coles has improved each year in the NFL and as a 3rd year player it was his breakout year (as you know most WR have break out seasons in their 3rd year)

And the comment about the jets being the redskins is so incredibly stupid. Yeah they signed some players but lets face it if the jets were such a great orginazation then those players would not have left. But since they arent they came here to D.C. to dominate. And Randy Thomas was the 2nd best free agent guard available behind the guy from the Raiders who stayed with the Raiders, Coles well worth the first round pick because any of the top WR in this draft would have cost the same as Coles. And Chad Morton would have stayed but the Jets tried to not include a roster bonus and sneak it by Morton and it didnt work and Morton went so far as to ask the jets not to match the offer.

So dont blame the redskins for being a great franchise while the jets try to low ball, undercut and undermine their own players so much they dont want to re-sign with them

and i say this as a redskins fan but the jets are my 2nd favortie team

No doubt losing these players will hurt, but i dont think any of them was half as responsible for the teams success as Pennigton was. The pre-season may not count but i have to count what he's done so far. I didnt like getting Conway myself, with the injuries and all, but they might just use him sparingly and use him in the clutch as opposed to throwing to him on 1st down in the 2nd qaurter.

Its not so much the jets lost alot of talent, but they lost alot of team. meaning alot of new guys that need to gel, and fast, if they are gonna succeed. Unity counts alot more in football then any other sport.

got that backwards. everyone else has to adjust to him. and its only conway and becht who really have to do it. and conway has a decent amount of skill and if he can play 16 games this season im not too worried. now becht is an entirely different matter. he is the weakest link in this offense. pennington throws the ball with a ton touch yet becht still cant catch the ball. im also worried about the offensive line. but as long as we've mawae i know he can take the brunt of the d-line.

There's not a better backup quarterback in the league. Testaverde is still a decent "field general". I don't want him starting all season but for a few games he'll be fine. He needs the O-line to keep his old ass healthy.

i have given up. i want them to go 0-16, get first overall pick, and trade down and get as many 1st and 2nd round picks as possible. this way we will b guaranteed a better squad in '04, and god-willing chad pennington for 16 games. although to be honest if we still had keyshawn i wouldnt b worried at all. testaverde and johnson had great chemistry.

Bull, shit. I dont remember the exact figures, but Coles is making a SHIT load of money. Bona fide, #1 reciever, T.O. kinda money. No rookie commands the amount of money Coles got. He's a great speedy reciever and could make a difference on many teams, but he is being grossly over paid.

The speculation on why they didn't take Brunell is because the Jags will probably cut him before the season starts. So, why trade for someone you might get for free?

The season isn't completely lost, you know. Edwards is trying to motivate his team to win and it doesn't help that the fans have already given up. Doesn't team loyalty mean anything anymore??? Have you been watching the Mets rookies play??? They are playing great, I may have been a little overenthusiastic, the Mets will also need pitching.

And, the Yankees ain't sitting pretty this year. Their bullpen is horrible. Tore isn't managing like he has in the past. Their decision making process (specifically the GM) hasn't been as stellar as in years past (Orosco, come on!!!)

Jets get Jaime Martin who is a great backup quarterback. Testaverde has had a lot of time to study the west coast offense and his arm is as good as ever, I just want him to get the benefit of the doubt. However, if they become 0-5, I'll be expecting a barrage of comments... :8o:

i dont know, the idea of winning too many games scares me. the jets arent going to win enough games to get into the postseason, but they may win just enough games that we get a shitty draft pick, and thats all i care about. getting that number 1, trading down, and getting a good TE (becht needs to be shot), another good reciever, and anyone who could help stop the run. however, if clarett is available in the draft i want him very very bad. imagine the triple entante of clarett, martin, and jordan.

I'm not a Jets fan but I know that yesterdays game was outstanding and if MY RAVENS could play a game like that every week i'd be more than happy with a losing season. i don't know how you would've expected the Jets to beat the Colts anyway. They won't go to the playoffs this year but that might be a good thing. They can get a higher pick in the draft and an easier schedule next year and sadly that's the only time the jets and giants tend to win in the last 10 years. they alternate good and bad years because they're stuck in mediocrety.
