View Full Version : Are you a fan of the Krispy Kremes?

According to Fortune magazine, Krispy Kreme is America's hottest brand. The stock has been soaring as they expand into new markets ; they recently opened in Boston.
It's strange...the doughnuts are definitely good, but they're not that great. And even a fat bastard like myself has the common sense to stay away from them (200 calories & 12 grams of fat in 1 measly glazed doughnut).
In any event, I would like to buy this stock, but the second I do it will turn out that they cause cancer.
Where do you stand on the issue of Krispy Kremes?

Love 'em. I live right near the 72nd Street store. It's one of the things that I will miss when I move. Dunkin Donuts may have better coffee but they can't touch the Krispy Kreme donuts.

They just opened up a place by my house. I have like 3 different Dunkin Donuts like 10 minutes from my house and I am more than willing to go twice as far for Krispy Kreme. A warm, glazed Krispy Kreme donut is the best donut, period.

Thanks for the reminder, I had a few left in box upstairs.
I don't have one near me, but I buy the brand from the grocery store in boxes of 12. They're my favorite doughnuts.

First time I had a Krispy Kreme I was off the Parkway and the thing was hard as shit. I did however go and get another one a few weeks later and it was some good stuff. There is one off of I-95 in Philly that I drive past when I work down there.
Dunkin Donuts isn't that bad as it is your basic donut. Back home we had Yum Yum's. Great stiuff and it was more of a family operation with only a handful of stores. If you are ever in Bucks or Montgomery County in the Northern Philly suburbs, check em out. Why would you be there though?
The best donuts I have ever had are from Tim Horton's in Canada.
http://www.timhortons.com/english/images/6pack.jpg
Tim's is the equivalent to Dunkin Donuts in the States. I thought Tim's was great and the Canadian Maple donut absolutely had me sold. Imagine a Boston Creme only with a Maple Glaze on top instead of chocolate. Great coffee too. If anyone ever comes over, I have a shitload of coffee to go along with some enticing conversation. Great sandwiches too. Wendy's Corp bought Tim's a few years back and have been opening US stores in and around Ohio and other border towns across the country. My hope is that one day Wendy's wil;l just go apeshit and open Tim's all over the place BUT keep them spaced enough that going to one is an event. I wouldn't want one to be too close or I would be there all the time. I always think of going there as a special occasion.

Krispy Kremes rock! Love them, but it's hard for me to find them anywhere without going into the city. I typically get them at the ShopRite in Garwood. I love the glazed donuts. Every DD I ever went to hardly ever glazes their donuts.

Isn't everyone? Seriously, they make Dunkin Donuts taste like Wonderbread when you get them fresh and hot. Btw those people looking for them, many gas stations and supermarkets get them daily - not quite as good as from the store direct, but nuke 'em for 3 seconds and they rock.

You're a little late to the party on the stock. I got in at the IPO, back when the tiker was KK. Anyway, the stock just hit a one year high, so I would not buy it now. KK has been down here forever, but I once saw a newsclip of the ones in NYC, and they have F'n lines outside the door.

The closest place I know of get deliveries of them like a Dunkin Donuts. No freshly fried ones.
Anyone know an actual store in the North Jersey area for the KK's? I'd love to try a freshly made one.

Sorry, there's only one KK store in New Jersey. It just opened in Brick. It's too far away if you're in northern Jersey, but if you ever go down the shore for any reason, its on Route 70.
