If you commit $25 million a year to one guy, it's going to affect the payroll for the rest of your team (at least in the current baseball economic climate) A-rod's a fantastic player, but it's awfully tough for one guy to carry the team in baseball. the only flaw in that theory is that baseball and basketball are completely different. basketball, one guy can make enough difference with a few decent guys to make a team win, so james should either do that or mature enough to not whine knowing he coulda done something. where as Arod has better years than almost everyone every year, but in baseball, if only 1 guy is doin anything, it doesnt help you win, especially if your team cant pitch. if cleveland sucks with that team, you can dump on james, you cant dump on arod 4 having 3 AMAzing years and his team just blows

Fred Wilpon was on with Mike and Mad-dog sometime after A-ROD's first season with TEXAS. They asked Fred about A-ROD and he said THE METS wouldn't have paid any player 20 milion let alone 25 million. The most they might have offered A-ROD would have been 17 maybe 18 million for 6 years. Fred also said he wouldn't be willing to give a single player a 10 year contract.
