I tend to turn my music off when I drive up to toll booths and drive thru windows. I'm not sure why.

I see some people who just let their House Mix CD BOOM BOOM BOOM as they pay a toll booth attendant or grab a burger and it just seems rude to me. They don't want to hear your crappy taste in music. I know that many people would find my Metal annoying too. I think that's half the reason I turn it down.

So what do you do?

I have EZ-Pass so I sing Pat Benatar at the top of my lungs.

What???

But, I will always turn off the tunes if I'm looking for an address for the first time.

Inevitably I am listening to 1010 WINS and I feel embarassed about it for some reason so I turn it down at lights and things. I usually have my windows open too because my AC doesn't work.

ha ha.

I also turn down the volume when I'm lost. Like I dont know where I am because the music is too loud.

!

Thats not so bad actually.

When I pull up to things, I know they don't want to hear my metal either. All depends on the crowd. Sometimes when i know some yyoung impressionable kids are around or I want to show how cool I can be (not really) I BLAST the new Lamb Of God (Metal record of the fucking YEAR thank you) CD or something else I am extremely proud of to be listening to.

In situations where I feel really goofy I put on my ABBA or my Neil Diamond (Forever In Fucking Blue Jeans YO!!) and just sing it obnoxiously out the window and don't care who hears me.

It is commonplace though in a toll booth or drive thru area to turn it down though. I would sooner though, hear real music than the BOOM BOOM of some generic techno song.

Kindest Regards, Your Fluff

Okay, I admit it. This is a little weird. When I'm driving, I'm usually listening to R&F MP3s. If I pull up to a light (and the window is open) or a toll booth in the NY area, sometimes I turn it up a little. I do this on the off-chance that the people around me are R&F fans and will do a double-take thinking R&F are back on the air.

I told you it was weird

And of course I turn it down. If my money is going to someone else, I want to know what needs to be said. I'm not an idiot.

I always turn off the radio as soon as someone in the car starts talking or wants to say something. I think I'm being polite but I wonder if they think I'm putting too much pressure on them to say something interesting.

I do this too, I don't know why. I was going to bar 9 last night and as I went through to go into the Queens Midtown Tunnel I turned the radio down.
And I was wondering why do I do that still I have EZ Pass, I guess it's old habit.

As far as at the drive-thru I do it out of courtesy to the people there. Plus I dont want my order screwed up. I also do it at the ATM, but it's more that I like to pay attention when it comes to money.

Nah, only if I'm ordering something or I'm lost. Otherwise, I like seeing people's faces when they see a white girl in an Infiniti blaring rap with the bass booming. It's priceless.

I turn it down. Feel it's common courtesy, I know people don't want to listen to the crap I'm playing.
I will usually say either "thank you" or "have a nice day" when the transaction is complete.

Also, communication at drive thru's are bad enough, don't need extra distractions to screw orders up even more than usual.

I usually turn the radio down, but my car is so loud it doesn't really matter.

If I'm in my work truck I usually turn it down when I pull into someones house. If I don't like them I turn up some Slayer just to piss them off.

People turn the radio down in all these situations because they require communication and/or a bit more attention opposed to a general driving situation. I thought that was obvious.

thanks capt.

I have to go over the Seaside bridge like 6 days a week and oft'times I get stuck when they open the drawbridge to let the bigger boats go through...this process could take up to 5 or 6 minutes and in that time i am always sure to loudly play 'Big Balls' by ACDC for a goof

At toll booths, I like to start to hand them the money, then take it back and smell the coins, then say: "Just a minute, let me wipe that off for you" then wipe it off with a napkin and hand it back with an exaggerated smile.

" and they ask me why I drink"
