I searched for an existing thread on this movie and was surprised not to find one. I think this movie would be a natural for the some of the crew on this board.

A low budget indy-type effort that is pretty damn good IMO. Directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, The Beach) on a screenplay by Alex Garland (author of The Beach, but not the movie screenplay), it is sci-fi/horror/political allegory and is filled with zombies/blood and guts/and, well, political allegory. The premise is some Earth-First types break into an animal testing facility to "liberate" some primates. Despite a warning that the monkeys are infected with "rage", they get loose and set in motion a plague which turns the animals (including humans) who become "The Infected" into not-quite zombies (think Mike Tyson, in a bad mood, who was smoking crack instead of taking his Zoloft). The uninfected protagonists go on an odyssey in search of safe haven and hope.

Not an especially original plot but nicely done, esp. on a low budget. If you're a fan of Doyle's work you'll appreciate it. Plus they added an alternate ending to the movie if you sit through the credits.

Yup, this was a great movie. Actually, it came out in England last year so you can already download the DVD. I saw this several months ago. Very well done. I belive this was shot entirely with DV cams.
If you wish to see what versions are on the internet, go here. (http://www.vcdquality.com/index.php?imdbid=0289043)

I saw this movie yesterday(Bootleg CD) It reminded me of Night of the Living Dead and some other movies all thrown together- but I found it pretty entertaining . Not one of the best of the genre but good none the less!!

I started a thread for this movie a while ago, but its buried so deep I don't feel like looking for it.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. the DV cameras they used to film it really added a gritty feel to the images which enhanced the "realness." It almost looked like a documentary.

I really want to see the new ending, but the film pretty much left the theatres around here. It playing at one theater at 10:50, and that's a bit too late for me. Last time I went to a movie that loud that late I had a headache for a couple of days.

I saw it a couple of months ago, too. Heartily enjoyed it. Does anyone know what the alternate ending is? I only know it starts with "What If..."

I thought it was great. Not the scariest movie ever, like the promo says but very good. I don't feel like seeing all over again just for a few minutes at the end of the credits. I'll wait for the DVD.

Warning - Spoiler Below

The alternate ending is a touch over-hyped given the "Hollywood" finish they put in the original release (at least here in the US). The alternate starts apparently after they crashed through the gates although it is now daytime, which makes for a continuity problem. Jim is in the back seat, apparently seriously injured, Selena is trying to help him and the Kid (Hanna? I forget) is driving. The scene cuts to a hospital emergency room that has such bright ambient light you are thinking heaven. Selena starts making like a MD out of ER for several minutes although the audience and Hanna realize pretty quickly that Jim is as dead as Uday and Qusay. Selena keeps trying to save him (breaking her earlier rules)and Hanna eventually has to lead her away. The scene ends with the two women walking down a hallway as the swinging doors close behing them darkening the screen until all you see is a narrow band of light.

So, aside from killing one of the main characters and taking away the happy ending, it's not much different. ;)

here's my problem with this movie.
every horror movie has a set of rules established early in the movie.
zombie's stay in dark places during the day. stay out of dark places and you're ok. and if you go into a dark place, bring a weapon.

So driving into a tunnel would be stupid. almost as stupid as going into a windowless concrete building.

here's another problem I had with this movie. The zombies are infected with rage. uncontrolable rage. that means these things should attack anything and everything that moves. But they don't. they don't attack each other. why? is this communal zombieism?
