Gary Cohen treats Bob as if he were a great-uncle in the throes of senility. Bob will make yet another loopy observation, and Gary will simply stay quiet long enough for Bob to finish what amounts to another one of his incoherent phlegm-induced ramblings. Gary just ignores it, as if it never happened, as if Bob did not make a point at all.
Sometimes Bob will turn his mike off to just go all out and hock that loogie up, when it gets too bad. You can hear it distinctly, he is mid-sentence when inevitably that growling looger creeps in, until it quickly takes over and overpowers his larynx, first a soft rumble, then a rolling glurgle, then a full-blown greenish mass of google lodged in his trachea that needs to be hacked up. But first he'll try to talk through it, for the heck of it, it is a Murph tradition to do so.
One would think that this guy would be anything but an announcer, with that phlegm problem for the past 30 years inhibiting every 3rd sentence.
