Oh the bygone days before home video systems became mainstream. How many of us had not spent our childhoods at the local video arcade place.
Here is a list of some Arcade machines I remember:
1. Space invaders, Galaga, Galaxian
2. Pac-Man, Ms. Pacman
3. Battlezone (or was it BattleTank)
4. Missle command
5. Asteroids, StarTrek
6. Dig Dug, Mr. Do, BurgerTime, Frogger
7. Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Popeye
8. Paperboy
9. Defender, Choplifter
10. Tron
11. Karate Champ
12. Lifeforce, Scrambler, Vanguard
13. Robotron? (or was it Robotric? It had 2 joysticks- 1 for shooting and the other for moving)
14. Various shooting machines (ex. crossbow) where you protect your characters as they move from one side of the screen to the other.
15. Joust
16. Pole position, Spy hunter
17. Centipede, Millipede
18. Gauntlet, Double Dragon, Contra
19. Arkanoid (was like breakout I think)
20. Starwars, Zaxon
21. Tempest
There are others but I can't remember them all.

Please, before you type Street fighter, Mortal Kombat, Vitual Fighter, Killer Instinct. I'm talking old school like pre-1988. Thanks.

If you guys still want to play the oldies you can on yoru computer.

Just download a program called MAME..

Get it at www.mame.dk also that site has all the roms for just about every ARCADE game ever created you can seach for roms by year or manufacter. I have like 200 games there are literally thousands of different games you can play.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

One of my favorite oldies was DEATH RACE 2000 where you just drove over people for DEVIL POINTS.

I don't think that site carries roms anymore.

I don't think I'm as old as some of you who posted in here. One of the 1st games I remember playing on an arcade machine was Super Mario Bros. It was right before the Nintendo was released.

I LOVED Double Dragon and Shinobi. Those were my HOT games. Galaga was money. Air Hockey is still one of the KINGS of the arcade. The Simpson's 4 player adventure was always fun.

I remember when I was in Syria, I was DESPERATE for something to remind me of America, so my cousin who speaks Arabic found a palce with an arcade machine! I was so happy. We walked throgh the dusty ass city to some hole in the wall (And in a country like that, it literally looked like a hole in the wall) and they had the 2nd Contra Nintendo game set up on an old arcade machine. I didn't care, I played it for a while anyway. The controls were all fucked up, but it was ENTERTAINMENT!!!

Scrambler and Vanguard were a couple of my favorites. there was also this game called Mappy I liked. I used to ride my bike to Modells because they had games on both sides of the store. I got thrown out of time out in Sunrise mall one time for rocking the Tutenkahm game back and forth because I was pissed off. But in that place there was another game room upstairs.

I have the mame emulator and ALL the ROMs (games) that have been mentioned in this thread (and many more). If anyone needs any of these classic games just Dr0p me a line and I will send them your way. It is a very easy procedure. I just finished "Double Dragon" and am now on a "Super Mario Brothers" kick, these games rock!

That great old XMEN 6 player arcade game was my favorite. Colosis,Cyclops,Night Crawler, WOlvie and that girl that no one liked was the best game. i could beat that game on no more then a 1$. Also Teenage mutant ninja turtles 3 turtles in time was a great game and Street Fighter 2 V was my fav fighter of all time. Vega was the bombshit, each character had a secret on their level (Dlasins was the best cause if you did it right you could chuck an elephant at your oponant) they also had the best sound clips Sonik Boom, Yoga Fire, Yoga Flame, Tiger Kik, Hadukin, ect.
