Whenever you're down South and the Midwest, always stop for lunch at diners where there are alot of trucks parked. These guys know all the good, reasonable places to eat and they can also make good lunch company- who knows, you might make a new friend!!

In Memphis, you've gotta go to the newly opened Soul Music museum at the old location of Stax Records. It's a great experience.
I also like Sun Studio.
Though Corky's Bar-B-Q is a must, there are plenty of other great places to buy it. As I recall, at B.B.King's on Beale St., you can get a huge Bar-B-Q sandwich with a big ol' mess of fries for about 6 bucks.
The best time to visit Memphis is during May. Throughout the whole month is the Memphis In May festivities, featuring the music festival as well as the World Championship Bar-B-Q Cookoff, which is not to be missed.
One year at the music festival, in one day I saw Bob Dylan, the Black Crows and 8 or 9 other acts for about 18 bucks. It goes on for 3 days, usually there's a half dozen stages or so and is lotsa fun.
Don't fuck with the cops! especially if you're from upnawth. It's "yes sir, no sir, I'm getting the fuck outta town right now sir if you want".
Beale St. can get a little dicey on hot summer nights. I park behind the po-lice station.
Forget the Hard Rock, that's for shy tourists.
I like hanging at the Rum Boogie on Beale.
