It was very heavy rain.

I was coming down 46 West at about 6AM this morning, and on the horizon all you saw were these OMINOUS black, low clouds. I thought it was a funnel cloud for a second. It was so dark it almost completely blocked the dawn through the clouds. Then when I got on 23 North the heavens erupted in a torrential downpour that nearly had me pull over. With my wipers on high I could barely see. Everyone slowed down to at least 45 and we crawled along cautiously.

But that was one of the coolest sights ever. As I came down the hill on 46, the black clouds hanging there.

Then as I got closer to Rt 23, on Rt 46, I gazed upon the hellish clouds of which you speak.
