I've never heard of Mojo magazine, but I'm apalled that Radio Head is #6 on a list of great guitar albums, and Van Halen is not even in the top 20.
Ridiculous.

No Van Halen (or Zep, for that matter) on a list of guitar rock albumns
=
a list created simply to garner people's outrage and get the magazine some attention & therefore of no value whatsoever

20. The Original Soul Sister - Sister Rosetta Thorpe.

This woman is incredible. I have a buddy that has a blues label and is putting out a tribute CD to her this year (Featuring Joan Osbourne, Michelle Shocked, etc.) and I have seen her on old Gospel TV Program Kinescopes.

Incredible, simply incredible.

MOJO is an English music magazine. I dig it because it often comes packaged with CDs of classic, obscure music that you can't usually find.

I think Crippler hit the nail on the head.

I would only add that they might have also made another one of these lists so you can go "Who?" to a few of the names, and then they can act like they're better and more well versed in music than you.

What should we care what some art school assholes think about music?

And where's Sepeltura?! max SHREDS!!!

Zeppelin and Van Halen are great at what they do, but they clearly don't fit into that list at all. God forbid someone tries to have a somewhat original thought when it comes to these neverending lists...do we really need to see the same fucking dumbed-down, EVERBODY-knows-'em band on every fucking "best of" list? Sometimes the best is NOT the most popular...deal with it, whores.

Please Mojo. Everyone knows that just because Britany Spears is world famous she's not the best musician on Earth.

But this is just another "Too cool for the room" list of bands and you know it.

And although I dispise the machine that can take a band to heights of popularity for no good reason, sometimes a band's overwhelming tallent makes them get noticed or is born as they are pushed into stardom.

Plus, I DO expect to see a very similar list in these "best ofs" because it never really changes. There are some amazing bands that influenced the world of music and that's that. It only gets Upd@ted as new bands break new musical ground. But that being said, this is why I don't care about these lists. It's been done to DEATH and is a cheap way to get sales up for your magazine.

i wish you all could listen to Grand Funk's "Caught In The Act", then you would understand my lust...

Led Zep's "Song Remains The Same" and The Kinks "One For The Road" along with "Foghat Live" will make life seem a little bit better!

Fuckin'-A. Anything else is for musical fascists who deserve to have their albums melted and poured down their throats. Pardon me for wanted a little variety/experimentation/quality to my music. These lists ALWAYS have particular criteria that cater to the readers of THE FUCKING MAGAZINE THEY SHOW UP IN. A magazine like "Mojo" probably is going to appeal to someone who lives and dies by "Urb" or "Kerrang!" or "Vibe". Why the fuck would a magazine that caters to "classics on the fringe or under the radar" go with some obvious choices that everyone's heard a fucking quadzillion times already? FUCK THE CLASSICS. Give me something new or something I might have missed. Fuck coddling the fucking week and BLOW MY FUCKING MIND.

Did you not sleep well last night or something? I was expecing something better than that! :p

Satan is gay anyway. We all know that. And bands that scream about him are usually silly assholes just trying to make Mommy and Daddy notice them.

5. Loveless - My Bloody Valentine

Before I opened this thread I said to myself it's not going to be a good list unless it has my favorite, MBV's Loveless. It is clearly an awesome list cause it has this astonishingly amazing landmark made my ears bleed when I saw them live and it's just perfect album in the top 5.

I am too tired and lazy to open the link right now to see the other 80, but I would hope it has some Built To Spill and Dinosaur Jr.

14. Henry The Human Fly - Richard Thompson
At the very least, #14!!
This is a good list. It's obviously going for people that aren't that well known, which i like,. that way i know who to check out next. I don't want to be told stuff i already know. I do know most of the musicians on this list, and they all fuckin rock if not in the traditional sense.

I know i will be ridiculed for this but why dont they have system of a down on the list. That guitar player (forgot his name) plays excellent, listen to songs off of the first album and tell me he cant play the guitar. And what about Santana, he is an extremely good guitar player. And of cource Zep and other but ill let you folks take care of that.

Although I agree with much of the list, I must give honorable mention to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here' album. Although they may not be ranked right up there with the best, the overall tone and mood of the entire album is excellent and sends me over the wall everytime I hear it. The guitar work is exceptional and worthy of a listen!!!

Being' a huge WHO fan, I was surprised that "My Generation" was on the list, especially at #2!
It's a good album, but "Live At Leeds" was their guitar masterpiece. If live albums are not allowed, then it should have been "Who's Next"

And where's Frank Zappa!?

Take it easy Clarky
