Longest I have gone without sleep was seven days. One of the worst experiences of my entire life. I don't know how people can deal with being insomniacs.

Well, once I was up for three days straight, went to sleep, and then was up another three days, so in the end, I'd say that was...14 hours.

the longest actual time with no sleep was about 35 hours, but i went a week on less than 11 hours for the entire week, that was about an hour and half sleep each nite. it sucked, fucking insomnia...

back in my days as a clubkid, i had access to WAY too much crystal meth. this one november, 97 i think. i got about 24-30 hrs of sleep the whole month. i would stay out for about 3-4 days, come home and crash for 3 hours then get back up and go out for 3-4 more days. i got incredably paranoid. i thought the cops were following me. if i was in a room bymyself, i could hear people in the next room whispering (about me). i heard shit that just completely wasnt there. i would hide pills and powder all over my house. i once flushed about 800 dollars worth of pills, because hallucinated the raid team busting down my door. its called amphetamine psychosis. or sleep deprivation induced delusions. it sucks, and its why i dont do crystal anymore. after doing a gram a day for a while that shit can really eat you up. when i quit, i put on 40 pounds (i only weigh 155 now). so anyway... in that stretch, i went about 7 days with NO sleep (after the first 2 they go pretty quick). but that month was fuckin rough. drugs are bad.

sleep deprivation induced delusions
Didn't Sandy Hogan experience that while helping David on his psychology project?
[b]Actual reply[b]: I went 3 months with 3 hours sleep a night. The other 21 hours I was tripping my head off. Does that count?

I think it was about 5 1/2 days (about 22 hours) when I was on the set in the Phillipines with Martin and Marlon doing Jack Daniels with a straw, cocaine, crystal meth and methadone!! Fun times!!!

see, a tru professional speed freak learns to drink lots of weight gainer (yeah... BEEFCAKE!!!) or just expire. at the end of my last binge, i spent a solid week just sleeping for about 12 hrs a stretch, smoking pot and eating food... then sleeping for another 12 hrs. that was december of 97. i've done it a few times since, but no binges. a good line every year or so reminds me why i hate it. bad waves of paprnoia...fear and loathing.

and i do have to credit marijuana for kicking the meth habit. they say only about 5% of meth addicts ever kick. i say enough pot can keep you on the couch and safely away from any other drug known to man. hurray for kind bud.

When I was in the Army, we would do 72hr Movements (no not BM's or jumping jacks ect. ect) road marching the whole time with 100 + pound rucks (Backpacks) plus weapons and ammo. Stopping only to piss or pass out. It was brutal!

I think the most for me is about 36 hours -- tight deadlines at work.

My personal record is 38 hours and change. I try to deprive myself of sleep a lot in the summer but normally die out after 24 hours or so. 5 days is absolutey insane, I could never imagine that.
Any tips to stay up longer than 38 hours besides coffee, soda, red bull etc.?

My personal best was 40 hours. I had to type up some papers for school, then head for work, and then to my night class. Unluckily for me, that class that night was showing us a viewing of "Battleship Potemkin". Once the lights were dimmed in the classroom, I kept passing out. It was freaky because I kept trying to rouse myself from sleeping but I kept falling asleep. My heart was jumpin gout of my chest from my self-induced apnea. I miss my night classes! Now I'm stuck with more normal daylight class hours. I think sleep-deprivation marathons were "born" for the night-lovers.
See Ya!

Back in my late teens and 20's, I used to routinely stay up from Friday morning till Monday night, with or without pharmaceutical enhancement.
A few of those binges started on Thursday, like when I'd go down to UVa for the big Easter blowout they used to have.
It was a point of pride to come back to the construction jobsite all bleary and still outwork most of the other guys.
