I just found out about this film today. From Robert Rodriguez - the sequel to Desperado (which was the sequel to El Mariachi). It looks totally baddass. Any movie that has Johnny Depp, Salma Hayak, Willem Dafoe and Danny Trejo in it has potential. Only drawback...what the hell is Enrique Iglesias doing here?

Anyway, I usually don't dig Antonio Banderas but in this role...he rules the villa.

Check out the trailer... (http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/onceuponatimeinmexico/)

Dude, don't forget that the man...the myth...the legend, Mickey Rourke, is in this thing.

I'm there, day one, first show.

I enjoyed El Mariachi for what it was, but Desperado, despite some good elements, largely sucked -- the ridiculous guns, the moronic plot twist. I'll pass, but if I hear good things, I might check it out on video.

what happened to this man's face? it may be natural aging but it seems to me it is the result of something like steroids or drug use?

oh yeah, and did anybody see my 'executioners mask" thread?

He gave up acting for a few years to become a semi-pro boxer. As you can tell, he wasn't very good.

People either love or hate "Desperado"...and always for exactly the same reasons. I love it BECAUSE it's so outrageous and over the top. It's gun-totin' escapism at its finest, and the closest any "western" filmmaker has gotten to replicating the sheer thrill and brilliant stupidity of the "two gun"-style thrillers that Jon Woo and co. perfected over in Hong Kong in the 80's and early 90's.

Never heard of it but obviously Sergio Leone wasn't available to direct it.

Actually, this is based directly out of the Hong Kong/Japanese cinema of the last 60 years or so. It's not inflicted with enough of the Creeping Death to be a Leone flick.

This better be a good movie. The promo shows all the good parts, but I am hoping this will be a good movie and not a fake lame one.

El Mariachi = good indie flick
Desperado = half-assed effort at what Mojo described
Johnny Depp = a celebrity who's entitled to his opinions, and a damn good actor = get over it.
Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke = outstanding in Steve Buscemi's "Animal Factory" = see it.
E = Mc Hammer

Saw the movie today. It was okay. It was kind of confusing watching it with all sub plots and fast action. (get the DVD to see it over again). Forget Selma (although she looked good), the other girl in the story (Johnny Depp's lover) was freaking smoking. 1/3 of the movie is sub-titled as it's in Mexico. If you didn't like Desperado, pass this one up and make it a rental.

Think HAPPY thoughts. Welcome EVERYONE! Ron and Fez love you..............No this is not a cult.

I saw this bad boy the day it came out and I thought it was great!

It was everything I expected, the crazy guns, the large body count, etc. I didn't really get the whole backstory with the general. However I like the fact that all three of the movies don't exactly jive together fully. It's like each story is a different version of a myth. Cool concept.

I pretty much agree with Jeff. I liked the movie a lot, it entertained me, but I felt like I was trying to figure out what was going on up until the very end. But then again I was pretty high so I may not have been the quickest.

It's a sequel to "Desperado" in the same way "Evil Dead II" was/wasn't the sequel to "Evil Dead I".

Made sense once I thought of it that way. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
