Anyone ever played a full game of Monopoly?

The other recent board game topic made me think about Monopoly and how I have NEVER played that game to the end.

If I could get a friend of mine to agree to play this shitty game, we'd always get bored after like an hour.

I guess maybe Monopoly is aimed at a more mature gamer? I don't know. All I know is that there is NO WAY I could play that game until one of us is bankrupt.

So has anyone ever done this? And if so, is there anyone who is actually REALLY good at Monopoly?

Legal rules or home rules? Everyone plays Monopoly differently. I know if I was the banker, I always had money hidden ("It's not cheating, if you don't get caught"). Plus all the trades or auctions among other players-"If you give me this property, I'll give you $500 and a free ride? And what the heck was it with owning both utility companies where "rolling the die"- did it mean 2 dices or one, depended on who owned the property. Oh yeah, like all board games, we played for real money (the more people played the more money in the pot).

I'd be willing to play an entire game of Monopoly. But nobody ever wants to finish it. My friends usually get too drunk by the time we hit the 2 hour mark. I'm a Monopoly junkie. I have a shitload of different Monopoly games. But it's difficult to convince my wife and son to play the NHL version, the Star Wars version or the NY Mets version.

I have played countless amounts of Monopoly games and have usually finished. Your problem lies in the fact you play with only one other person. I wouldn't even bother, the game is only interesting with four or more players. Usually we would ante up around $10 -- $20 per person which makes for some cheap and great action. Lastly always house rules, for example how about beginning the game with $500 in free parking.

ive done it, and i usually win too, its not that hard to finish, you just have to sit there and stick it out until you find the other player with 500's stuffed up their sleeve, lousy cheating bastards.....anyway, yes i have finished a game.

I've finished a whole game of monopoly a few time and i played by the rules in the book, not those b/s home rules. I found out that playing by the book gets less disputed and i never have cheated in monopoly. I've won some games and lost some games, but in the end you have to remember its supposed to be fun. and usually once its down to you and another person, it gets very boring

my family, because they don't understand the concept of
keeping score, and halfway through evveryone just says
fuck it. But I do kick their asses in Scrabble.

i've finished the lotr version of risk many times.
the only way u'll have true fun playing a board game is if you get like 25 people to play and use like thumbtacks and shit for the extra peices.The largest # people i've ever played a board game with is 36 , it was fun but many people had cuts on their fingers after that game .

i don't enjoy the games that go on for hours, i just don't have the time. it's usually battleship or card games like Gin or 500 Rummy when I play against my daughters. Michele just taught me a card game called SPIT, i'm getting the hang of it but she's still kicking my butt...

Hah, I didnt know kids still played that game. I dont remember how to play, but I know its on the basis of putting a card down in order and getting the smaller pile or somthing. I used to play against my older sister and brother and never won. I have low self esteem.

something like that, you put your 3,4 or 5 card on the 4, etc and when you run out of matches you have to slap a pile or something. If you're late slapping the pile you have to take all of them. I usually wind up slapping her hand and having to take the piles.

I play Monopoly with my friends a lot and I have finished a lot too...I never win though I'm usually the first one out but Monopoly is a shitload of fun and good times to boot...Monopoly is the greatest board game ever....and it's funny when you go to AC and you see all the Monopoly names there because the avenues in Monopoly are the same as in AC...the only thing I've never liked about it is the other versions like NFL Monopoly for example..the only different version I liked was Pokemon because of the way they rewarded you if you rolled doubles
