Yes Lost Boys is good but about vampires as a race Interview with a Vampire was amazingly done. And yes, even though it's recent, I'm putting Shadow of the Vampire on the best movie about vampire list.

And for nostalgia you can't go wrong with Tod Browning's original 1931 Dracula or the 1922 movie that started it all- Nosferatu.

Even though it was a made-for-tv movie, i'll have to say 'Salem's Lot

I gotta go with Just Jon's pick of "Near Dark" It got over-run by "Lost Boys" but it was a much better modern-day vampire movie. And you gotta love those old Hammer Dracula movies with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

Near Dark, followed by Nosferatu.

With an honorable mention for Blackula.

i think the best vampire is the princess. she sucked the life out of me. and as far as movies go, that nasfaryuntesa
thing was pretty chilling.

Any of the Christopher Lee Dracula films.
"Near Dark" is a great film, one of Bill Paxton's best ever.

Heckler, you are on it! Bill Paxton does a great job in Near Dark, and so does Lance Heinrickson.

I also paid to see D:DALI in the theater but I was young and stupid. However I feel that Mel Brooks career might end with breaking Tony records instead of that shit even though I never saw and will probably never see The Producers on Broadway.

Yes. In Coppola's Dracula I remember Wynona running down these steps as her friend was getting banged by Dracula turned enormous wolf. She had a nice jiggle about her in her nightgown.

But the best for me was DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE. Christopher Lee, already mentioned. All the HAMMER FILMS horror flicks kicked ass. HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE had buxom barmaids, an exorcism, a horse drawn hearse, and a wicked wicked ending.

Hardly great as films, but interesting grimly fiendish modern-day vampire flix: Nadja (Peter Fonda, Elina Loewensohn) and The Addiction (Christopher Walken, Lili Taylor).

Of course, The Hunger. Sure, it stinks of the 80's, but Bowie + Peter Murphy X Catherine Deneuve=blood stains on the sheets.

Vampire movies are generally the dumbest theatre ever. That being said, I'm all about Love at First Bite.

I can't express how happy I was to see Near Dark discussed here, as soon as I saw the title to this thread I was trying to remember the name of that vampire western I saw a couple of years back.

Apparently, there's talk of a remake coming out next year.
