How do I change the video settings in IE? Right now whenever I try and watch an mpeg or an avi file, when I click on it, it opens in a new window and plays in Quicktime. No Good! I want it to play with Windows Media Player. I've checked the windows folder options and WM is defaulted to play those files. Also, in my MSN browser WM is the player for those files types. Can anyone suggest anything?

I had the same problem so I got rid of Quicktime. I'm sure that's not the right way to do it, but it worked.

Removing Quick Time from your system should fix it, though also try reinstalling Windows Media Player as well after you do it.

God didn't create the internet so we could have access to limitless stores of knowledge and have instant interaction with anyone anywhere in the world you know? There is one reason and one reason only to surf. You know what it is. Anything else is, pardon the expression, masturbation.

No one has answered my question though. I'd rather not uninstall Quicktime if possible. There has to be another way to do this? Let's go people, it's crunch time! Things are getting serious!

Go into quicktime and look in the prefs and tell it not to play mpeg and avi. Then go into wmp prefs and tell it to play mpeg and avi, if it's not already configured like that.

Also disable the quickplay option for the system tray for that and other programs you don't want constantly running on start up.

Yep, do what SatCam said. It's all good.
