I still dont have cable. My parents are too cheap to get it, and If I have to dish out the cash, I wont have any money by 2004. Oddly enough, I have cable internet, and thats $50 a month.

Yes I remember when HBO was the only pay channel and there was no MTV. We had cablevision on Long Island back in 76.

My parents first got cable in 1976 and decided they didn't like it. 15 years later when my little brother wanted it they decided it was for them. But in the interim because the telephone pole was in my back yard I scaled it one nite( it didn't have those things to climb up) and I stripped and crimp and new plug on it. WALA I had cable and just ran into thru the vcr to get the other cable channels because our tv didn't have a remote let and I don't think there were any cable ready tvs then. Moral of the story I got to funbags on the Hitchhiker on Hbo. On that show a girl would get naked and then meet her death.

We first got cable in the early 80s and had that brown box with the wire that connected to the TV. Anyone remember that? It had like 36 brown buttons left to right and a switch on the left to go up and down the three levels of stations. I think if you pushed down two different buttons you got the Playboy channel. Nice.
