when it is about to be performed?

After last week's TNA and watching Frankie "The Future" Kazarian almost break his neck because AJ improperly used his Styles Clash (for those who don't know, it was the move that former WWE superstar Crash used as his Crash Landing bastard Elroy!).

Anything that's main focus is the neck terrifies me to no end until I can see the wrestler get up. Ala the various piledrivers, overhead suplexes and the Vertebreaker.

DISCUSS.

Piledrivers are always scary to watch. Especially in ECW when they did it through tables.

German suplexes are also scary sometimes. When they continue to land on their head it shakes me up a bit.

And I cringed a bit when Brock went for the shooting star press and landed on his head.

im sorry i think that piledrivers and such are moves that should not b banned. i mean they used alll during the 80's and early 90's and no one bitched. besides its cuz we cant see the tombstone we're stuck with the shitty 'last ride'

I just said that I cringle whenever that certain move is performed. I don't like seeing guys that do this for a living unable to make their living and support their families because of the carelessness of others.

Last Ride. Yeah, pretty bad.

And I cringed a bit when Brock went for the shooting star press and landed on his head.
Tht was the extra risk Brock took to try to make his Wrestlemania Moment better for everyone else. Cringe Central brother!

phix, who said anything about banning? I sure did not.
WWE banned them a couple years ago. They are only used once and a while now. For a while they stopped doing DDT's too, thats over now.

WWE was trying to do anything to stop the neck injuries the wrestlers were getting.

Piledrivers were also banned many years ago in World Class wrestling in Memphis.

The powerbomb, but only because I watched a friend of mine get her neck broken as a result of that move.

New Jack Dives. I think he once did a 30 foot fall with Vic Grimes off of a scaffold at the last Living Dangerously.

And Peachy, I can't remember her name, But I think I know who you were talking about and I think I was there.

the Vertebreaker.

That move scared the hell out of me...I don't know why anyone would agree to be hit with it. I still don't know how people walked away from that.

Another move that makes me cringe just a little is when RVD takes a DDT & lands on the top of his head & springs a foot off the mat. He does it nearly everytime he takes one, & it looks dangerous as hell.

Christian's "Un-pretty-er" looked like it could cause some damaged if the timing wasn't perfect, too.

Kristy Kiss... she was managing the Big Unit against the Hit Squad that night, and took a powerbomb from the apron. She was supposed to land on the Big Unit, who were laid out on a table outside the ring, but ended up smacking the back of her head & neck on the floor.

The shooting star press.

And the I recently saw in ROH, maybe by a Bricoe brother -- the set up is like a death valley driver but in the release the fellow's head gets twisted around and Dr0pped on the other's knee instead of the mat

I blame the WWE's inferior style for their injuries.

Guys like Kawada & Misawa & Kobashi got Dr0pped on their fucking heads hundreds if not thousand's of times, and their necks don't seem to be half as eggshell-fragile as half the WWE roster seems to have.

Definitely Nash's old power bomb. Wasn't it banned for a while? I would add that any move performed by Scott Steiner is dangerous because it puts me to sleep.

A little off tangent, I did a paper in college about the "real" dangers in pro wrestling, complete with a video presentation. I wasn't completley confident my video clips would illustrate my points. Then 5 days before the presentation I was home watching WCW Thunder April '98 when the Buff Bagwell incident happened. I was able to record the aftermath and the injury on replay.

I know it's not a move, but that was one scary night. Mainly because they didn't cut to commercial, or turn the cameras on the announcers to protect kayfabe. They kept focused on Bagwell lying motionless in the ring. That was the most real and frightning moments I've seen in wrestling.

That really was one of the worst things I've ever watched happen on live TV. I was glued to the set for the rest of the show & really felt bad for Buff (& a little for Rick Steiner).

It would have left even more of an indullible mark on wrestling if Buff didn't fake re-injury about 16 times in the first month after returning. And each time it more & more distasteful & unwatchable.

years ago there was a big heavy guy called Haystacks Calhoun. he would wear a farmers outfit and had a chain necklace with a horseshoe pendant...

anyway,

haystacks would get the opponents head between his legs and start shaking his ass. if that ain't fucking scary i don't know what is...

last night or sunday night there was a guy with a tiny pair of leather briefs on and he had his junk in the opponents face, up against the turnbuckle. i guess they are trying to draw everyone in including the gay community...

The Vadersault. Something about being moonsaulted by a
400+ pound guy just doesn't seem like a good thing.
